Ping i15 Driver

Just went to my first club fitting fully expecting to buy a Titleist 910 just based on looks and the great reviews I've heard on it. Much to my surprise the fitter had me try a Ping i15 9.5 degree and I absolutely loved it. I tried it with a few shafts but the Proforce Axivcore was a no brainer. The setup felt perfect. The black face on the i15 is gorgeous as well, real confidence inspiring head. I don't hear too much about the i15 and after hitting it today I'm surprised. Anybody else hitting an i15?

 

I did also pick up a Titleist 910FD with a Kaili 75 shaft bc I just had to get something by Titleist : ) But that was another great feeling club.

I'm with ya. I hit everything on the rack and it was a no brainer for me as well.
The monitor was showing 10-15 yards more with the i15 than most everything else. Good dispersion. Very controllable.
I hit it really well with the stock TFC 700 shaft also, but the Axivcore just sealed the deal.
The only club that came close for me performance wise was the Nike VR Tour with a Project X 6.0, but the i15 just felt better.
I have been playing it for a couple months now (maybe 10 rounds) and the real world results are consistent with what I got on the monitor (for once).
I do wish it had an adjustable option since I love to fiddle with stuff, but otherwise, great job Ping !

I really wanted to go with a 910 driver but the i15 was just one of those clubs where I loved the way it looked so much that I felt like it lent itself to a good swing. Gave me such a great trajectory too. I didn't know it came in an all black finish. That was one of the things I liked about the 910s the most, but looking at the two of them side by side there wasn't much difference, and the pear shape of the i15 is the perfect head shape for me.

It's funny tho bc I wanted to pair whatever driver I bought with a matching 3 wood, but the Titleist 910FD actually felt alot better than the i15 3 wood. Go figure.

Nothing wrong distance wise with the i15, I struggled a bit with direction at times, but in the i15's defense, it was in the begigging of the season, and I wasn't very consistant with driver back then.

Hit some of my longest drives with it (stock shaft).

Have tried most the 2011 offerings and the i15 is right up there.

I just like the feel of the head and shaft in my current driver.

What kind of driver are you playing? The thing I liked most about the i15 was the depth of the face. Just felt like it looked like what a driver should be to me.

I can't believe I have to wait 2 weeks to get these clubs shipped. I don't know if I can make it...

It was that or superdeep for me and I went superdeep. I played with the I15 and the only thing I did not like was workability for me was a little loose. It would tend to hook or fade too much but I loved it and would game it with a whiteboard any day.

Been waiting on the G20 to come out to try a new one, but hit the i15 the other day for the first time and fell in love with the feel. I really like to feel the ball on the face and I got a great feel with range ball stones with the stock TFC shaft. A lower comp ball will be awesome with this head, I'd love to find a Whiteboard in one. I'm still going to get fitted for a new G20 but if I can find what I want in an i15 for cheaper I might bite on it instead. I'm actively looking for a steal on one now.

I gamed the i15 last year all year and loved it. I liked the ball flight and felt it was very workable and long. I went to the RHT this year as I feel it is a good bit longer and more forgiving but I would say the i15 is much more workable

I've been gaming one since last spring, it's the best feeling/deepest driver out there in my opinion. Finally replaced a 905r. Hit it with a Oban Devotion x-stiff shaft cut to 44.3/4. In all honestly I love the driver, but it can be for lack of a better word a real bastxxx at times. When I'm swinging good it's hands down the best driver on the market in my opinion, get a little off and its a pain. You will understand what I'm talking about once the honeymoon is over.

As you can tell with that little rant currently I'm struggling with it a tad, but it's been in the bag for about 2 full season now so clearly I'm a big fan.

i15 is long. I'm on season 2 with it. Not the most forgiving and overshawdowed by G15 and other OEM's.

Just played my first two rounds with a i15, and like it very much! Very controllable, and I much prefer the sound vs. my G15.

And while I really like the RIP shaft in the G15, the Diamana WB in i15 seems to be a perfect choice for that head

I demo'd an i15 last year and was really impressed but couldn't justify the purchase over my 909...

SO this spring, being a ho, I sold the 909 and got a 910 D2, which was a brutal idea. I lost 30 yards with the Titleist!

Decided on a whim to go to an 8* with the UST tour X and it's a bomber. The best way I can desribe the i15 in like a "Corked bat"

what lenght shaft did you get with the i15? Did any of you get the SW adjusted if you had the shaft cut?

I didn't have mine cut at all.

i got an i15 with the stanard shaft and had it tipped a 1/2 inch from ping. Their website says the SW is D3, well it's D1 and when i got it tipped it was C8. Pings kind of full of it. I had my local shop put a weight in the tip of the shaft and it brought it back up to atleast D1.

I'm gaming a superfast 1.0 but I would probably chose the I15 if I had to switch and the SF 2.0 TP was not an option.
