Courses around ocean city NJ

Going on vacation with the family for a week in September and want to go try a few new courses. Can anyone reccomend a few nice public courses to check out around ocean city nj?

not sure how close egg harbor is but i love to play mcculloughs emrald links its reasonable and a great place.I like it just as much as twisted dunes.

Its not that far at all! I think I will try to hit that one up and twisted dunes! Both look amazing. Never played that style golf course before.

McCulloughs is a dog track - played it once, would never do it again. Twisted, Blue Heron Pines, Sand Barrens and ShoreGate are all quite nice. Seaview Bay sucks, I've heard the Pines is better.

Try Ballamore. It was built to be a private club but is open to the public now. Played there while on vacation at the Jersey Shore last summer and loved it.

I think twisted dunes is being aerated on Monday and I wanted to play Tuesday :l

Think it would be a bad idea to play there anyway? I can get a tee time on golfnow.com for $41 per player so the price is not bad. I never played on freshly aerated greens before though.

There is no such thing as "Atlantic City Golf Club". There is, however, a great course called Atlantic City Country Club which is where the golf term "birdie" was coined way back when. By the way, you ain't playin' there without a Harrah's connection because they own it now. If you are a whale at one of their casinos, you're in!!

Not true - very easy to reserve tee times to play there. Call or make tee times via web. Pricey but worth it.

Totally wrong. Atlantic City is open to the public. It's expensive but worth it. I just played it last week and it is in exceptional shape. I live in Ocean City and have played pretty much every course in the area. They are all good but mostly over-priced especially during the summer. Not a fan of McCulloucs. Shore Gate if you want a real test on a phenomenal golf course. Sand barrens is very fun. Cape May National is great. Renault is good. Twisted is great. Blue Heron is great. Don't forget our little 12 hole Ocean City municipal course.

If you really want to have fun on a budget go over to Heritage Links in Seaville and play the 9-hole links course all day long.
