The Wie should have played like this the whole season. This is getting fun to watch.
She was getting some life that's for sure. That 18th hole and her wedge shots don't get along. How can you miss the green from 75 and 100 yards on that hole. It's repulsing.

Did they just really play over 6hours in a two ball? The second last match had a 11:40 tee time, and now its 18:12 and they just finished? WTF?

harsh, mahann was way worse as he has loads more experience and he made a stupid shot selection with his chip.

yeah after writing that I take it back. Mahan's was a really straight forward shot he totally flubbed, her's was insanely tough and was almost great. It's just as soon as she hit it I knew it wasn't enough. Shouldn't have hit it there in the first place, but oh well, europeans were clutch.

That lost point from kerr ended up hurting a lot.

I salvaged a lot of money via a push on that O'Toole/Hedwall match but it felt absolutely sickening. It took a bizarre series of events to put all the focus on that match and unfortunately it will be remembered incorrectly. Even if O'Toole had held for a win the USA still needed Stanford to win the final hole against Munoz to retain the cup at 14-14. But since they called the final match and walked off, everyone will focus on O'Toole blowing the final two holes, supposedly changing the outcome.

O'Toole has terrific strengths but anyone who follows her game realizes she has flaws that can show up out of nowhere, to the point she barely resembles an LPGA pro. Her wedges and approach shots and distance control and sometimes her chips shots can be shockingly poor. I was astonished she managed to conceal those weaknesses for nearly 4 full rounds. Frankly, as I implied in the post last night, I expected Ryann to wilt today and lose something like 4&3 to an excellent gutsy player like Hedwall.

I have no idea how you put your most fragile player out there so late in the singles draw. That's another reason I expected Hedwall to cruise. Ryann needed to be somewhere in the middle, where they hid Vicky Hurst. Instead, number ten was too late to begin with then it turned into penultimate spot once Kerr was out.

A player can't properly be remembered as a goat without losing a match. Ryann was 2-0-2. I think the overall impression will be more fair to her than she will be to herself. Certainly that will be true among teammates and the captains. It will be interesting to see how Ryann responds going forward.

Again, it is so amazing to me what it took for all the spotlight to be on that match and the final two holes. Ryann was so agonizingly close to being remembered as a Solheim hero. She missed a birdie putt to go 3 up by about an inch on 15. On 16 Hedwall had to hit a very good pitch from deep rough and then sink a curling 8 footer for par to remain 2 down. Ryann was still calm at that point. She effortlessly drained a 3 footer for par and then responded to the crowd's USA-USA chants. At that point, given Ryann's 2 up lead and with Stanford tied and Wie in good shape against Pettersen, the USA was at least a 1/4 chalk to retain the Cup.

Stanford missed vital birdie putts on 15 and 16 by centimeters then Munoz hit the fantastic approach shot on 17. Pettersen birdied 16 with a 30 footer then played 17 and 18 flawlessly for more birdies. It was almost like every other variable conspired to put all the focus on Ryann and how she butchered 17 and 18. Any other combination of events would at least have allowed the Munoz/Stanford match to finish 18, sharing some of the burden.

The key shot was Ryann's errant tee ball on 17 into the deep left rough. Golf Channel didn't air that shot. If she finds the fairway, Ryann undoubtedly would have hit the green and won the match with a routine par. She had no nerve issues at that point. Once 17 went to Hedwall, I was all but certain Ryann would botch the short iron to 18. That's been her trouble during the recent slump following the Solheim selection, poor approach shots.

Anyway, it was terrific theater, I can't imagine paying attention to the comparatively contrived and meaningless FedEx Mush.

I somehow don't get the feeling that I'll be jumping around, clapping, yelling, doing my "Fred Sanford - this is the big one!" chest-clutching, and collapsing to the floor in agony with this Tour Championship the way I was this morning with the Solheim Cup!

Even though the US lost. I thought it was good theater. Wie needs that kind of fire in all her events. I think she will win more if she plays that style of golf. She held her own aganist the Viking Machine (otherwise known as Suzann Pettersen) O'Toole should havere went out earlier and Creamer should have went out later. Christina Kim finally redeemed herself and a 5&4 win.

Very disappointed in Wie's wedge game..... Gagg by USA, good win by Euros!

I was deeply impressed with the Wie Pettersen match, both players were outstanding towards the closing holes and to be fair to Wie she hit a fabulous bunker shot on 18 and it took a superb birdie from Pettersen to beat her, a great match, very entertaining and great credit to both players.

Wie needed to play a wee bit better and Creamer got creamed.

The horizontal stripes of the US uniform did not flatter the likes of Christina Kim and Lincicome.

That was my first time seeing Creamer, she has a wonderful smile, even in defeat.

Something about Petterson and Hedwall just scream b****.....I was disappointed in the way the US finished. Especially Wie's 113 yard miss and O'Tooles, as hot as she is, falling apart on the last few holes.

Was awesome TV though. I couldn't leave it.
Why is that??? It sounds like you don't take defeat at all well. Petterson finished with 3 birdies under enormous pressure, I think that is very praisworthy, it's a shame you resorted to personal insults that reflects very badly on yourself.

It's easy to criticize Wie's approach shot, but it wasn't that bad and she played a superb bunker shot to set up a par which looked likely to halve the match, I thought she did very well.
