Ahh, just go now. Play all three a couple times each, then on the way home drop by Sandpines and Bandon Crossings.

This Bandon area Golf developement- the four or five courses, maybe THE LAST time this will happen in our country. The Eco Nazi's, anti Capiltalists, new laws, have tremendous power and ability to halt ANY type of developement. And this is Coastline, Low lying land, and lots of land ! Truely a Treasure & amazing it got done ! And us Golfers should spread the word about this treasure. And spread the word to "Official in Charge"

& our environmental friends (hah), of this great enviro friendly Golf resort: It Can Be Done !

 

I have planned every year to make it up there. My friend's come back in awe. Count me in- when the dough allows.

ReverandTmac - I just read this story for the first time. One of the top 3 posts ever at golfwrx. well written, and perfect prose. You should submit it to golf digest.

biggest golfing error in judgement in the last 15 years was not travelling to bandon when it first opened (i travelled oregon by car for business). I could have played here in her infancy for $ 45 local rates!!!

awesome pics... you should check out Chambers Bay the site for the 2015 US Open. I've played it twice and it seems like the same type of layout.

Please make firm plans to play there. It really is the best golf experience in the world IMO. Ranking 2nd, is Cape Kidnappers/Kauri Cliffs. #1 goes to the Bandon resort. Memories which last not just a lifetime, but generations. I think fondly of how much joy Keiser has built for real golfers. I also feel bad for the other 99% of the golfers on the planet, who will never get to experience what is essentially the heart and soul of a diehard golf purist. Thank you Mr. Keiser for giving so much.

I will be making my 9th visit early next year and hopefully my 10th after Old Mac is fully opened. I have played all the Pebble Beach courses once and have no plans or thoughts to play there again.

agreed, Bandon is golf Disneyland. Some will not like the fact that there isn't anything else besides golf but in my opinion there isn't a better place in the world for pure golf enjoyment. The three golf courses are awesome. Bandon Dunes and Pacific are very similar in terms of the property they are on but hole for hole Pacific blows Bandon out of the water. Bandon Trails stands alone from the other two because it was designed on a completely different piece of property that the other two. You start out on the dunes and then head into the meadows and then finish back on the dunes of Oregon.

The accomodations are the perfect set up for a group of guys out on a golf trip. Once you go there you will be asking yourself when can i get back. I have gone every winter for the last 7 years and the worst weather i have ran into is 50 degrees and partly cloudy.

Im guessing it'll be alot of rain, but call up there and ask them, theyre very friendly! I went in Sept and am planning a trip in 2010! only reason I ask about Feb is that One Putt Blunder has mentioned some sort of deal where you pay 300 per day for like 4 days 3 nights

Yeah, thats the off season, but thats why you bringtwo pairs of shoes, extra socks and raingear. When it rained on us of for about 6 holes, its was the most fun we had BS's with the caddies!

Feb was great this year. About 10 mins of rain over 4 days of golf. Some clouds, some sun, excellent golf.

2.5 weeks and counting until my return trip. We will be the insane group with the 1st tee-time of the year on New Years Day. Going to push and get both Bandon and Pacific done in 1 day!

Already have plans to play in December 2010 to play all 4 courses! Offseason really is fantastic.

What would it cost for a trip to Bandon in March or April? Would it make sense to avoid staying at the resort and simply book a room at a local hotel/inn/B&B?

Also, are there non-golf activities that I could convince my wife to explore while I'm on the course? Or is Bandon strictly a guys-only kind of trip?

Unless Im mistaken, there isnt anything to do in Bandon except play golf

Noooo, I got there there night before the rest of the guys and went to dinner and I couldnt even find a store or gas station open for matches for a cigar! The food in the town was excellent with great wine selections.

13 days and counting until my return trip! Just hoping that the weather makes a slight turnaround. The temps look good, but hoping for at most some drizzle and winds under 10mph. Links golfing weather right?

So judging by it's remoteness, I'm guessing I'm flying in on a crop duster? I guess it adds to the charm.
