How do I put paint fill on this Yamada putter?

I got a Yamada Musashi 85029 that I want to put some white paint fill in. Got a smoking deal on Ebay that I couldn't turn down. Trying to do the Yamada logo in the cavity and the sight line. Both are currently naked. I have never done this before so thought I would ask here before jacking up an otherwise beautiful putter. I love the patina on the burning copper and don't want to change it by rubbing paint (and patina) off the surface if I screw up with the paint fill. I ordered a new Yamada white/orange Gripmaster and white/orange Yamada head cover. If I can just not botch the paint fill, she will be sweet. I got a small jar of white paint, the type you would use with model cars/planes from a hobby shop. Thanks for any comment.

I should have been more clear, I have never put paint fill on any club or putter. I am curious how to actually apply the paint. Being that the engraved areas are so small, I am wondering how folks apply paint only inside the engraving. It is my hope not to get any paint where it doesn't belong so I don't have to remove it and risk removing the patina incidentally. Thanks for any further comment.

Go to an art supply store and buy a fine tip paint pen in white. That should handle the small line filling work. Good luck and show us the final product!

You dont just get paint in the lines. That is pretty impossible. You go get some good acrylic modeling paint and a small brush and paint the engraving. It will get in the engraving as well as all around it. Sit it to the side and let it dry. Then use acetone or fingernail polish remover and put it on a clean cloth and wipe across the engraving. The paint around the engraving will come off and the paint in the engraving will stay put. That is it. Good luck

+1 this and not the other. the "ultra fine" tip paint pen will keep the paint in just the areas you wany it if you're very careful - don't just slop paint in the area and remove the excess as it will do exactly what you're trying to avoid with the patina.

Take a tooth pick and fill in the area you want filled. If some gets outside your lines that's fine, just don't let it sit for too long. Wipe over with a dry paper towell. This should leave the engraving filled. Take a damp rag or paper towel with and lightly pass over the left over, smeared paint until all the excess is gone. Don't press down too hard or you might dig out some of the wet paint in the engraving.

EDITED TO ADD: Damp as in water, not acetone or mineral spirits.

I decided to just put the line on. The small Yamada logo in the cavity looked tedious and I like the naked look anyway. Just put the paint fill in tonight. I did get the Dremel out and polish the putter a bit, brushed out the small areas, etc... Recently got the orange Gripmaster "Yamada" grip put on and the white/orange Yamada head cover. This is by far my nicest factory made putter. A special putter in many ways.

No, I got it about 14 months ago. Seems it was about $150. What a steal. Think retail is about $350+. I have never used a putter with such feel.

for reference, i use nail police. put it all over the place over the fill spot, let it dry, then wipe clean with a little acetone. usually works pretty well.
