You gotta stay away from that BCBS man. At this point drinking other stouts is like going back to your local Muni the day after playing Augusta National with Nicklaus, Hogan and God in your foursome :)

Anyone had the Fifty Fifty Eclipse Elijah Craig 12 year Stout? Local Total Wine has some and it is intriguing but is it really worth the insane price point $28 for a bomber. Is it even in the same class as BCBS?

I really like the new IPA from Sierra Nevada, Hop Hunter. It's more floral and "bright" than Torpedo. If you haver tried it yet I recommend.

Also, this showed up at my door today.

I've had a cold the last few days so I'm going to let that clear up before I try this.

not kidding there, Drinking The Hairy Eyeball right now pretty solid strong ale, Wish this was not the last bottle in stock seems like it would be really good if I let it sit for 6 months or so. good caramel flavor which I love one of my new favorite not barrel aged strong ales

Sierra Nevada 2015 Bigfoot Barleywine massively disappointing tastes more like a super hoppy DIPA. I still wonder what the barrel aged version tastes like and if it mellows it out but man really bummed by this one. Anchor Old Foghorn miles better

Always favored the Foghorn over the Bigfoot. Put a few of either in the closet and let them mellow for 3 years or so. Hopefully the Sierra will balance out.

That reminds me, I've got some verticals from Stone that needs to be enjoyed soon. 08-11.

These will probably not be opened for quite some time but figured worth a shot as I did not want it to be one of those beers I passed on only to regret later.

First off I hate you for having the topper haha. Been trying to get my buddies that snowboard up there try and grab me some. But that hop hunter...wasn't a huge fan. The beer camp from sierra nevada was ok. Maybe I had too high of expectations for the hop hunter tho. Congrats on the topper tho enjoy! I'm just jealous haha

Edit...if you enjoy floral ipas try Lawsons Sip of Sunshine. Smells like dank fruit punch.

Picked up one of these today, and admittedly, fell for the marketing and fancy words they put on it. For $16.99 a 22 ounce I doubt it'll be worth it, but I'll try it and decide for sure.

16278615553_a68cc3f2ac_b.jpg

The Hardywood coffee stout on the other hand, for $9.99 (and a bigger bottle), was well worth the money. Hearty, rich, aroma-full stout that was so smooth and no hint of an alcohol taste at all.

16692011647_eca9bb1c87_b.jpg

And yes, I drank it out of a jar. I was out in the garage/yard all day and didn't want to make it THAT obvious I was drinking half the afternoon.

I heard a few people say they were let down by Hop Hunter. I really enjoyed it but I prefer the more floral types of IPAs. I think Sierra makes a lot of really good beers but nothing that blows me away. I will see if the Lawsons is available near me.

On another note I had a bomber of Sexual Chocolate from Foothills Brewing out of NC. Very good Russian Imperial Stout that apparently people camp out to get. It was not worth $18.99 a bomber though. Plenty more equivalents for half the cost that I like just as much.

I also am supposed to have a sample of Zombie Dust coming. I know it is highly discussed and liked here so hopefully my brother in law pulls through and gets it.

Wow 19 for a bomber?? Better be awesome haha. Zombie dust is ridiculous. My buddy had a coworker from the Chicago area ship him out 2 so I got one luckily. If your were able to get heady topper sent to you you should be able to get Lawsons. Next time it's in my area, which should be soon, I can shoot you a pm and maybe we can barter. Enjoy the zombie if you get it!

Nice! Where'd you get 'em? Bot is back on at NEBCO. Unfortunately I'm on a bit of a beer moratorium the next couple of weeks. Going on vacation and I can't fit into my shorts!

Anybody had Sue by Yazoo brewing out of Nashville? I picked up a bomber for a trade and also one for myself. It's a smoked porter which I have never had before. BA gives it a 92 and the bros gave it a 100 so there must be something good going on.

Yeah I haven't been down there in weeks. Slackin. I got the s.o.s at Southington wine. Boooooooooo on the beer ban! Goin to vacation somewhere warm I assume? Thawing out a bit around here finally.

Yeah, off to Hawaii, cant't wait for warm weather and another one of my favirotes, Maui Big Swell IPA. I'm not completely on the wagon, just cutting back a bunch. That said, i was in Monroe this am and picked up SOS. It was the 2/26 canning so they must have a bit of it.
