Graduation is near and looking for asst pro job any ideas?????

I'm currently enrolled at Keiser University College of Golf and will graduate soon can anyone point me in the direction of asst pro job so I can continue with my passion

This is no different than finding any other job with no connections. Write a good resume, print off about 250 of them, send them everywhere you can think of, follow up with phone calls, get really used to people telling you they are not hiring right now, hopefully you will get 4 or 5 interviews and someone will hire you. Apparently you can expect to search for a job for a month for every $10,000 in salary you hope to make and looking for a job is a full time job. Hop to it!

My advice is to consider making your first impression by using complete sentences with punctuation in all of your communication.

You did do some internships during college, right? That's the place to start. Even if it's just part-time or not exactly the position you're hoping for or whatever. The point is getting in on whatever floor you can get in on.

And don't those golf colleges always advertise as having job placement programs?? It seems they should be pointing you in a direction. The fact that you had to resort to an internet message board to find career guidance worries me about what the college is doing with all these kids besides just taking their money.

Be sure to put in your application/resume that you're planning on taking your PAT on x date of this year and are looking forward to obtaining your PGA membership. It's a shame, but those golf schools are a waste of $. Still need your PGA membership it just opens up so many more doors for you.

Don't be afraid to pound the pavement a bit and hand deliver your cover letter and resume to head pros or gms (i dont know who generally does the hiring). Blindly sending a resume is tough, so if you show up you have a chance to make a first impression and build a repour with someone., even if they don't need anyone, they will be a lot more likely to pass along some information on another club that is hiring or keep you in mind for the future. You're right. However, good luck with what's on the other side of those doors if you don't want anything to do with the PGA. You have to atleast show you're interested in the program, especially if the person you'll be interviewing with is a PGA member (majority of head professionals will be members or atleast been in the program). I was just trying to help the kid out. If he would have interviewed with me (we just went through 67 resumes for a second assitants spot at my club) that would have been one of the questions I would have asked him.

I would say as an assistant or head pro you need to go the PGA route but as a teaching pro it's not necessary
