Well I was wondering what are these things called

I think there for alignment

Are they retail stuff and where can I buy it

Those would be those sticks you get from The Home Depot and you see in parking lots and at the end of driveways for when the snowplows start rolling during the winter. I use them on the range for alignment and stick them in the ground to check swingplane etc.

yea ud think that they were for alignement and plane, and im sure he does us em for that too, but ive also seen him line those up in front of the ball, about 4 feet i guess, and he has to hit the ball through the narrow area. makes sense to make sure your ball is started off in the right direction and you do have to have good alignment. i wish i had more but i know i have seen him do this before.

makes sense... but how does he see the ball go through that setup...? i normally don't catch my ball until at least a full second after impact...

 

i guess better players can bring their head up faster...?

They are basically plow markers. They are used to outline a driveway when plowing in the winter. Since they are seasonal, you probably need to be in a cold weather state to find them. They are about $1-2 each.

Wow, I can't believe people are giving thought to buying these because a tour player uses them. Can't you just watch where the ball goes to determine if it went straight, and put a club down for alignment?

I remember watching a show on the golf channel (Golf Academy?) and they had a pro demonstrate his training technique, can't remember who it was though. Anyway, he used these sticks to keep on plane.. He basically stuck them in the ground to the angle of his swing takeaway underneath the club (geez, this is hard to describe in words! :) ) and said that at any point during his downswing he were to go offpalne, the clubshaft would 'rub' against the stick notifying him that he was going off plane.

My suggestion is to simply go to a golf clubfitter, and ask for any old cutoff or discarded shafts. I use a couple of old shafts for these drills and alignment aids. Generally - they'll give you a few old iron or graphite cutoffs. Hey, it's FREE! :)

I used a discarded graphite shaft to test my swing plane on one occasion. After I discovered I wasn't on plane and cracked my hosel, I decided to look for alternative methods.

I found mine in the aisle where the mailboxes are. No one knew what I was talking about either, just happened to see them on the way out.

They are support beams. You place them in the ground on either side and attach a harness so you can practice your spider move/one armed push-up green reading technique.

 

Actually a lot of pros use them not just for alignment but also to place in the ground behind a student as a marker to see if the swing is too inside/outside.

Here is how Camilo uses the alignment poles... looks like he uses them to start the ball on line instead of working on swing plane... There are many uses for these little guys... I personally use old shafts and work the same...

What other drills do people use their aligment sticks for? I have been using mine on the putting green and range for aligment purposes only.

I believe they are called dowels (maybe spelled wrong, but that's the name)...and yes they can be found on the mailbox aisle at home depot or lowe's.

Yeah, I was told by my instructor to pick a couple of these up. I don't remember how he said to set them up so i can make sure my swingplane is in to out or staighter then out to in.

There are a bunch of things you could do with those two little sticks, the best $3 you can spend for helping you improve in almost every aspect of your game.

Those sticks are in the aisle by the mailboxes for $1.99 each. I'm in Mississippi, so it doesn't take a threat of snow to have them in stock. I bought a few last week from Home Depot and then saw them tonight at Lowes. You can also do a google search for fiberglass driveway marker, but most vendors are asking for $3-5 each.

yeah I live in Las Vegas, no snow here, EVER and they have them in lowe's, by the mail boxes or the for sale/for rent/beware of dog signs.

I need help trying to find these sticks, I have been into Home Depot and Lowe's in Jacksonville, North Florida and can't find them. I know someone has got them down in Orlando and its warmer down there. Anyone around Jacksonville that has found them? Please help me.

Not that I've been to the Lowe's in Jacksonville, but, did you look near the mailboxes and driveway markers? That's where they usually are located. Lowe's carries them in both yellow and red/orange. They are less than $2 a piece.
