so many courses in the orlando area to play, I don't know if i would make the drive to WW on sunday...maybe check out Reunion?

I would be interested to hear a review on Grande Pines. Going to Orlando on March 11th...only get to play a few times and definately going to play OCN. Looking for some other suggestions as well.

Grand Cypress is pretty central to that area and very nice. Wide and forgiving fairways, challenging pin positions, greens are decent (were about a 8-9 when I was there around Thanksgiving). You can play early and be done with plenty of time to spend part of the day with family.

Have fun - sounds like a wonderful trip.

Played world woods in the fall of last year. I would trade out your Saturday or Sunday for it. IMO, Shingle, FF, and Grande Pines are all interchangeable. I like GP and FF more than Shingle. If you're up for the drive World Woods is where it's at.

I played World Woods a few months ago and it wasn't as well-conditioned as I remembered (and I lived near there from 2000-05 and played it all the time). I think they've had an ownership change and it's affected things. I get email specials all the time, which on one hand is great but on the other hand you wonder if they're having to run deals because they're slipping.

Of the Marriott owned courses (Falcons, Grande Pines, Hawks landing) I like Hawks Landing the best. There all relatively close to eachother so I dont know if they do any specials if you play multiple courses in the same day.

I played Dudsdread last weekend and didnt care for it at all. Course was not in good condition. The restaurant there is awesome though.

Bella Collina is an awesome course and Im actually playing it Saturday. Like its been said in other threads it is kind of odd cause they had big plans for the community they were building around it, but I guess they went bankrupt and its just empty lots. Course is still in great shape and a lot of fun. The club house and facilities are very impressive and Ive never seen anything like it.

I second the Grand Cypress suggestion. Its right in that attraction area and they got 45 total holes. The new course is one of my favorite Orlando courses. Really unique and not a golfing experience you get often. The whole resort is top notch.

Other resorts in the area I would recommend are Championsgate and Reunion. Championsgate gate has a links course and an American course. Only played the American course and really liked it. Only thing is I think their peak season rates are too high. Have never played Reunion, but everyone I have talked to who has played any of the courses really liked them.

I've played Falcons Fire many times and it is a good track but there are others in the area I would play before it.

- Bella Collina is fantastic (get there an hour ahead and "tour" the clubhouse). It's not a difficult course but provides a very enjoyable round.
- Reunion has some great tracks and you could easily play 36 there. The Watson and Nicklaus courses would get my vote.
- Grand Cypress is a wonderful facility. Just pick a track and enjoy it.
- Eagle Creek is east of the city (close to the airport) and is a solid links course. Haven't played there since 2005-2006 but the greens used to be the best in the area (outside of Isleworth).

But my vote would be to do something different and take an hour drive up I4 and play Ocean Hammock. It has always been in immaculate shape every time I have played it and the last few holes are phenomenal on the Atlantic Ocean.

Have fun with the trip. Orlando is definitely a great place to play some golf.

We've been going to Orlando every Fall for our 8 man golf trip. We book through teetimesusa.com which is based in Orlando... unbelievable deals. Ask for Jenny Fuller. But Falcon's Fire is terrible in my opinion. We had the worst service there and they delayed our tee time so long on our arrival day that it go dark before we even made it to the 16th hole. I would play 36 at Grand Cypress over Falcon's Fire all day long. They usually have a special of unlimited golf where you can play the New Course in the morning and then pick a combo of the other 2 nines- the North/South are the best and the course that hosts the LPGA Tour Championship. Conditions are superb! Not sure if you played Shingle Creek before but by far some of the best/fastest greens in Orlando. They weren't as fast as usual last year for some reason but still rolled very true. The only issue with Shingle Creek is pace of play. It can be deathly slow because it is more of a resort course. They don't have any rangers pushing people along. One year 3 of the guys had to leave at the 14 hole to get to the airport because the round took so long. Ended up being a 5.5 hr. round. Hopefully on a Thursday you won't get that. If you like decent Mexican Food/Margaritas try Adobe Gilas off of I-Drive. Has music, etc. For sushi try Amura off of Sand Lake.

I think you've got it now.

Haven't been to WW in a while so I can't speak to the conditioning. But Pine Barrens is a spetacular design, one of the top courses in the country, and worth experiencing.
