Maryland Golf Instructor

Ok so my old coach is leaving and going to Pensylvania so i need to find a new swing coach. I am a fairly good junior golfer(got to a +2 this summer) and am very serious(want to play D1 golf). So i want to find a coach who can help me maximize my potent, not just some random pro who helps 30 handicaps make contact, I want someone who really knows what they are doingl. Im willing to go about an hour away from Baltimore, maybe more if he's really good. So who have you gone to that you really liked a lot. Thanks guys

I've taken a few lessons form Wayne Defrancesco.at Woodmont Country Club. Woodmont is a private course but the lessons are open to anyone. Wayne isn't cheap, but he is great instructor who has helped my game quite a bit. You can check out his video analysis on YouTube.
My co-worker grew up in the area and is a great golfer who took lessons from Jim Estes at Olney Golf Park. He highly recommends him to anyone that asks.

Or try Chuck Turesko at Laurel Golf park. He doesn't "advertise" a lot and has a resume of several college D1 players male and female.

Defrancesco, and Jim Estes have both won the Maryland open and both have played multiple PGA championships, both great teachers can't go wrong with either,

Take the following with a grain of salt - I am almost 50 and am a 9 hcap but looking to get down to a 5 or so. I am fairly serious about golf - but understand what I can, and can not do:

1) You might like Steve Bosdosh - he may be closest to you. He is over at Four Streams in Montgomery County - he has a lot of jr. successes and his 2 boys play D1 at U MD. Steve was the pro at TPC Avenel for a number of years before joining 4 Streams. He's a good communicator - and has a good eye. As an example - his sons caddied for us a couple times when we were guests and THEY were great too...and they were 13 and 15 at the time. They gave all dad's golf tips away...and they were excellent. My first round there I shot 77. LOL

2) Another quality instructor is Kirk Lucas in Warrenton, VA.. He's worked with several touring pros and LPGA players as well. I have several friends taking lessons from him and they say he's excellent. I am going to try him out - simply b/c of what my friends say. My issue is whether he will take me as a student. LOL



RE: Wayne DeFrancesco and Jim Estes - they are both very accomplished with the PGA of America and PGA Tour respectively - but they are "my way or the highway" teachers IMO. My friend takes lessons regularly with Wayne who is very technical and can be a little moody...not necessarily the most patient with guys my age. I took lessons from Jim maybe 10 years ago when he was getting established - he is a nice guy, but he was constantly late for our lessons. Maybe he has changed...but since you're traveling an hour - timeliness might be important to you.

Took a number of lessons from Joe Plecker at BCC, knows his stuff and isn't the "my way or the highway" type. Not as highly rated or acclaimed as defrancesco or Estes, but worth a look

I work with Jim, he is one of the best instructors in the US.

Don Frost at The Spires in Frederick, he has tour level video and swing analysis area.
Rates are extremely reasonable. I feel it would be worth your effort to go there and check it out . Read his bio.
