Titleist 585H

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased the 17* model with the NV-85S and absolutely love it. Like many, I have had problems hooking the ball with nearly every single hybrid I have tried to date. This is not the case with the 585. I not only love the simple look of the club, but the weighting and feel are awesome too.

The distance produced by this club is awesome as well. I was able to put it out there anywhere from 240 to 270 without having to go after the ball at all.

I'm probably going to get rid of my 3 wood and stick with this.

I highly recommend this club.

Do you find the shaft a bitt beefy/boardy? I love the NV 75S in my 983K, but the extra 10 grams makes the shaft kill the feel on all but the purest shots on the 585. Maybe it's my swing speed, but it's up there between 105 and 110. I also get incredible distance, but I would like more carry: the trajectory is lower than my 9.5 driver (17* hybrid here as well).

I've had mine for a few months now. Couldn't be happier. I fight a hook with most clubs and couldn't keep some of the hybrids I've tried (Rescue Mid TP, Halo, Heavenwood) from going miles left! I went with 19deg and DGS300 to plug the gap between 3 wood and 3 iron. The yardage is perfect at 190-200m carry.

It feels just like a forgiving long iron with the DG shaft. It's a great club for par 5's. Can either hit low running advancement shots or throw it up in the air with a fade to carry onto the green. I'm using my 3 wood less and less, this thing is just so easy to hit. In a word... Accurate!

I'm still happy with mine 6 months later. Although I did replace the S300 with a UST V2 shaft. It's just as straight, but is a touch longer and easier to hit. I'm actually thinking about getting another one now to replace my 3 iron. I might go for a 21deg with S300.

Solid little clubs. No complaints at all. Interesting that the new TM Rescue has copied the look.

Anyone try this with a V2 in it? Cant wait to put it in the bag

I've been playing the 585H for about three years now. Shafted with a stiff "tour spec" version of the UST Proforce V2 Hybrid version. I do not know if this shaft is available through the traditional retailers, I picked mine up at a Golf Town store in Toronto and when I found it, it had a Titleist "DEMO" grip on it. It was a weird club to find on the shelf...The Golf Town guys agreed to re-grip it with a traditional Titelist full cord grip, so I picked the thing up. When I got home I looked up the shaft specs on the UST website and couldn't find the specs listed on my club's shaft...until I saw that there was a Tour Player link...sure enough there are 2 tour versions, and my specs were there (I just went back to find the link to this part of the website but it's not there anymore...or at least I can't locate it, I think they have updated their website since I originally looked the specs up). So - at the end of the day - I think that this club shaft combo was kind of an accident...but boy am I happy with it!

I like the V2 Proforce characteristics to bigin with as they suit my swing style. I find that the 585H, with its "carpenter steel" construction, is just such a sweet clubhead. It's weighty and being a hybrid with a shorter shaft to begin with, I feel like the club is very easy to control. The weight of the head feels just like a freight train on impact with the ball. (*I've noticed from above posts that some of the players say that they push this club off to the right when in play on the course. I think that may be due to backing off a little when they have the club in play. On the course and on the range I just swing through the ball with my 585 and the ball does as instructed...on impact the sound is very pleasing with a high frequency "click" certianly audible (sometimes I think I can hear a little echo of the ball saying "yes siiiiir" as it screams off towards the target). out of the rough a sweeping low trajectory shot powers the ball out, workability off the tee is great, and reliable contact from the fairway is great too...I even chip and put with it from on/around the greens. Very versatile.

Now, the fact that the club has zero offset means you better be committed when you swing as any blocking of your release will send the ball off high and to the right. Swing with an inside out path and through the ball and release this club and it's fantastic. I have not found a better hybrid in my searching yet!

what loft in this club would be a good substitue for a 5 wood? 585h with a 17* loft or a 19* loft

To compare to a 5 wood, I would say the 19 as far as ball flight and 17 as far as distance. I have it to replace the 5 wood, the 17 is more of a 4 wood.

I have two of them a 17* and a 21* both a Project X 7.0's with an additional inch. I am on both sides of the argument here. I absolutely love my 17 and I cannot stand my 21. Bottom line comes down to quality control. My 17* is perfectly square at set up as the specs state that it should be. My 21 is closed and hooks hard. I have to play the club way out to the right which is something I'm very uncomfortable doing.

The feel and sound are both great and I love the ball flight I can get out of this club. The negative to me is that the bottom of the club doesn't cut through the turf very well. It is too boxy and catches on the slightest inconsistencies. The bottom of the face needs to be more ovaled so the club can cut through the turf better. Due to this factor and the inconsistency in the manufacturing I gave this club a 3 out of 5.

At this point in the game you can find a better hybrid out there.

Like most people I have always hooked hybrids....... NOT ANYMORE!!!! Workable, forgiving, with the Titleist look and feel. Already have a 21 degree that if anything I hit longer than I like and Im already on my way to buying a 17 degree. Both have NV shafts in them.

Dont understand why these dont sell better than they do..... I work at a golf store and have hit all the hybrids. These are just about as forgiving and playable as anything else thats out there.

It took me a little while to figure out how to swing this club. At first I was disappointed with it because it would hook on me. Then I figured out that if I don't go after it the ball just launches off straight and long. The hooks are obviously due to a swing fault, but it goes straight with a nice easy swing so its a keeper for me.

I absolutely HATED mine for the first 3 months, then out of nowhere it's my go to club. I hate my 4 iron(most uf us do), so I hit this thing from 200-230 with complete control, my best friend renamed it the "buntbrid" because I've been known to hit it from 190 even when i'm not feeling too confident with the 5 iron lol. I have the 19* with an NV shaft, it's awesome, would recommend to anyone!

I was in the market for a reliable 235 yard carry club. After trying a host of hybrids and 5 woods my search ended with this titleist in a 17 degree with an NV shaft.

By no means is it a club you can simply put on auto pilot.

What I love most about the 585.h is its lack of draw bias found in so many of todays hybrids.

Just took this club out for the first time today with the 104g stiff V2. This club is a rocket. It is definitely the easiest club to hit in my bag. Difficult to hook. I was hesitant on getting a hybrid for the longest time, but after hitting this I wish that I had picked one up before.

+1 for that combination 585 with V2 100 (104g); just a rocket;

the NV 105 is great too but little lower (not too low) ballflight compared to the V2 100

That's very interesting.......I have a 17 and a 21, and I'm having the same results. the 17 flies with a very slight draw, but if I'm not careful with the 21 it results in a hook. Not uncontrollable, but far too much turn to suit me. Perhaps there is a difference in the weighting between the two lofts, because I can't discern any difference in the setup.

This club is VERY hard to hit, but great when you hit it well. definetly a players club!

Total BS. This is one of the easiest hybrids out there to hit. I have allowed several people at my club to hit mine on the range, and even the higher handicappers get a great result with it.

Both of my clubs are factory VS Proto shafts in stiff flex.

This is a GREAT club.

I had this hybrid a couple of years ago and I didn't hit it very well, but that was all my fault. Now that I am a much better golfer I can hit this club just fine and I can take advantage of the shots it can hit. It feels amazing and the ability I have to control trajectory is outstanding. This is the one hybrid besides the Idea Pro that I have not hooked. However, the 585 has a better sound. It sounds like a wet towel smacking a golf ball. Another story of the Indian and not the arrow.

I really didn't like any hybrid before I bought my 17* 585h. It has a V2 100 gram Stiff in it. Very solid feel, very forgiving yet I can work it both ways fairly well. Haven't had any problems with hooks, though I launch this shaft pretty high, tough to control in the wind. I might try something like a Diamana Thump or a Speeder 904HB in it to get a more penetrating ball flight. It is the best hybrid I have tried so far.
