Las Vegas Course Recommendation

Recommended Posts

I'll be in vegas this coming weekend and wanted to play some golf. I've never played any of the courses in that region. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I'll be playing as a single, so should be able to get out pretty easily. I was reading about Angel Park and Paiute. Those look pretty cool. Anyway... Thanks in advance.

If you are going to have a rental car, Primm Valley is worth the drive.

Yeah. wife and I are driving down to the Grand Canyon from Oregon. Wanted to stop in Vegas for a couple of days...hence the recommendation request for a memorable golf experience. We'll be actually staying in Henderson for the two days.

LV National and Angel Park are dumps.
ouch, that's pretty strong language. :-)

kg92lefty, how about Tuscany? It's looks to be close to where I'm staying.

Tuscany is ok. Legacy is better IMO.

Really depends on your price range.
Kinda in the area you will be....
Tuscany is nice, I like that track.
Legacy is in good shape right now.
Royal Links is cool.
Ive heard good things about stallion mountain since it reopened.
Revere courses are usually good, although I have not been there lately.

other...
Paiute is always a great choice.
Boulder Creek is a awesome place, a real players track.

I made my first trip to LV last year and played Paiute Wolf, Rio Secco and TPC LV. Enjoyed each course, but Paiute was great. No houses around, actually nothing around. Just desert. If/when I go back, it would probably be the only one of the three I played that I'd go back to.

Not a big fan. Played it two years ago on a whim because it was close and looked wide open for my father and I. Most of the LVN course is like playing on concrete. Better option is cruising out to Summerlin. Two big courses and a fun little executive course.

In July the courses are dead, maybe busy from about 7-9 AM as it gets too hot for the casual golfer.

Well that's good to know, thanks. I dont mind the heat plus I don't think any of us are going to have the energy to be on the course that early :)

Well, just got back from our trip to Vegas, Grand Canyon, and Sedona. Great time for sure. Lots of driving. Anyway, My round at Paiute Wolf course was lots of fun. You know it's always a challenge to play a new course...and even harder when they send you off as a single. That's what happened to me. I got to the first tee, and the Marshall told me that I'd be alone for the round. After giving me the general rules of the course he mentioned that playing from the black tees would give me the best experience at the Wolf. So, the dummy that I am, I tee'd it up from the black tee's the entire round. For the first 9 holes I was having a surprisingly great round, for which I was only 1-over going into the 9th hole. Unfortunately I double boged that hole which made me 3-over for the front 9. I was ex-tactic about it. I'm flying around the front 9 all by myself hitting par after par. But then came the back 9! Seriously, the wind was crazy; blowing about a constant 20mph....at least. On the back, my tee balls started catching the wind and off they'd go. I ended up shooting 8-over on the back. I'm still very pleased with the round. Lots of fun. Crazy island green. I ended up shooting an 83.

Anyway, I had fun. wish I could have been paired up with someone who knew the course. Lots of blind tee shots, where I just got lucky most of the time. I think it's a little over priced at $153.

Thanks to those who recommended the course. I'd go back for sure, but would play the Snow Mountain course. I think most of the guys who worked there said that the Snow was their preferred course.

Wow, not one recommendation to head to Wolf Creek? You guys are slipping... : )

make a one hour trip to mesquite and play WOLF CREEK, conditions are always great, never ridiculously packed and absolutely stunning !
You could not be more off. The conditions there are average at best, and 5-6 hour rounds are the norm unless you are off before 8am

Wolf Creek is a tourist course, over watered, easy as cake muni style course that happens to be running through canyons.
Paiute, Rio Secco, TPC, Coyote Springs are a true golfers course.

Sounds like you had a great time. I'm to Vegas 6/6 - 6/10 and plan on playing at least two days. Not sure what day you played but $153 sounds like a lot since I just booked the 36 hole Wolf special w/ lunch and range balls for $139.

Anyways, not to thread jack, but for the second day of golf I'm trying to decide between Boulder Creek or Legacy. Both look like great courses. I wanted to play Legacy, but I don't want to drive that far that early after a few late night beverages.
