a little help identifing a club

i remember posting about this one a long time ago but completely forget,

 

anyway i have an old macgregor club that used to be my grandfathers and was left at my house when i was a little kid. i lived in the country at the time so i could use the feilds at the side of the house as a driving range. the stupid kid i was, i abused the club, even chipping off the payment with it, and i regret it so much now. well a few years ago i was just having some fun with it and the head split, no doubt from all the abuse.

 

id love to find another club thats the same, ill always hold on to the original but i enjoy the raw feel of this club, and would like to use it from time to time but as you can see, its not quite up to it now.

 

does anyone know which club this is?

Its definitely a store model,no pro model, from I would say 1962-1967.
White fiber insert, with the "zigzag" stamp on top of the crown.
It sure has seen better days!
Good luck in finding a replacement.. Check ebay!

thanks for the info guys. i know a club should never even be thought to be treated this way and i feel so ashamed to even post pictures of it. i used that club when i was about 8 - 10 years old, if only i could go back.

Why dont you send it over to me.. I am up to the challenge! It may not be playable but I am pretty sure I could get it looking good again.. Free of charge just pay for shhipping both ways.

That would AWESOME! its not really playable right now, it can take a hit but guarantied theres no accuracy. so a cosmetic fix would be awesome, and anything is better than what it is right now.

Hey Folks looks like I am going to be working on this one! When I start, I will try and start a thread on its progress. Every attempt will be made to have the club be playable. I am excited for this one.. Ive taken a bit of time off from the refinishing but I am chomping at the bit for a challenge. Cant wait!

I still have not hit that "Smart" driver I bought well over a year ago.. Lets go sometime in June. I warn you though, I am WAY rusty.. Don't expect great things!

Started to work on the driver.. I basically have to rebuild the neck, its in 7-8 pieces! I started a photobucket album, so here is the link. Sorry the pictures are out of order.. When I uploaded them, they all got jumbled and I cant figure out how to move them. I would like to place them in order from beginning to end of the project.
Anyone know how to do that??

That club is about as far gone as Messala was after the Ben Hur chariot race ... this could be an all-time best thread if you can bring that one back from the dead John! Best of luck fella - I'm pretty sure that you can make it look all pretty again but please Mr Cool just hang it on a wall and don't try and hit it lol.

Would really Love to Drew.. Keep in mind, not only did I not play last year, get this... I didnt even swing a club... not even once! Thats how much my life sucked with full time work and school.

if persimmonpal says its ok to hit i just might once or twice for good times sake as well as maybe take a video of the hit to show it working again. but after that or if he says no hitting it will get a nice wall mount where i can appreciate it.

Well, its been a long and super busy summer (as usual).. The worst is over though! I passed my Nursing boards a few weeks ago and can finally devote some time to cleaning out the projects I prob. shouldnt have taken on! To Mr Cool I apologize that this has taken so long!

The club is coming along.. I swapped out the soleplate for a better one I found at Goodwill.. The neck IS 90% epoxy, bladejunkie! I just have to radius the face, cut new scoring lines, and then paint and finish. It actually looks pretty nice at address. I will post more pics next week.

hey guys, i havent heard from persimmonpal since sept 26. last thing i heard from him was this:

"Very sorry Mr Cool! I bit off way more than I could chew this summer, and your club got put aside. I am very sorry.
Your club is actually very close to being done. I expect it finished within a week or so.. I have some pics to show you, send me your email and I will send them over. It looks awesome!
I dont know if I told you or not but I found a similar club at a goodwill that had a nice soleplate. I bought it and used the plate on yours.. (Almost) a perfect fit!"

i know hes a reputable member, but im just a bit worried about my grandpas club. i probably should have tried contacting him sooner but i appreciated what he was going for me, so i felt like i didnt want to rush or bother him. and i know he said a week but if it were to take him another 2 months to finish i was ok to me. its just that i havent heard from him and he hasnt responded back to my message i sent him.

can anybody get a hold of him or know a way that i could? thanks
