TOUR player endorsements - Freddy Couples and who?

who would you choose - let's hear it

Okay guys, so I'm looking for your help and your input. I'm getting ready launch our revised infomercial and am signing 4 to 5 PGA and 1 LPGA players to take part in our show and endorse our product. If you had a choice, which 4 or 5 would you choose and why. Also, if you saw a product on TV, which 4 to 5 PGA players and which LPGA player(s) would make you stop and take notice.

The obvious don't count so please don't list them: Tiger, Phil and Annika are off the market.

Let me know. I'll can tell you we have gotten a "yes" from Freddy Couples so far and looks like David Toms has agreed too. We're also talking to Cristy Kerr and DLIII right now. All of these players will be added to Kostis and McCord in our show. Who else???

I would get Aaron Oberholser, Ferety(to match McCord) Justin Rose, david toms, and Fred Funk the Tmag guys should be easy because it looks like they have a sponsership deal with you(pathpro) (not sure though)

These would be my picks:

 

Fred Couples

Davis Love III or Stuart Appleby

Camillo Villegas or Adam Scott

Kenny Perry or Jay Haas

Shigeki Maruyama or K.J. Choi

 

Paula Creamer or Natalie Gulbis

You could go one of two directions. Either look at players with "ideal" looking swings. Adam Scott, Charl Schwartzel, Steve Elkington, also Angie Rizzo looks solid at the top. Average golfers are suckers for swing plane stuff as well as a solid top position as shown.

 

The other route would be players with funky swings, Peter Senior, Stuart Bouvier, Jim Thorpe, Natalie Gulbis to name a few. If I saw some people swinging it like they are slaying a dragon & then find out they are playing on tour (assuming I didn't know who they are) I would have to buy the product. Perhaps some LDA guys would work too. Zuback would sell a zillion more speed stiks than Vijay IMO.

Gulbis or Creamer from the LPGA Tour. They have solid games and popularity inside and outside the golf world.

 

The PGA Tour is a little tougher. Do you choose a sound swing, or do you choose popularity that will help sell product? If you can have both, then Ernie Els or Adam Scott could be good choices. Villegas is a good choice as he's one of the young guns.

 

What about Eric Axley? He's a young guy who won this year, and he's a lefty which will show things from a different view. Or Bubba Watson if you're looking for a lefty.

 

These are my thoughts in addition to others that have already been mentioned including David Toms, DLIII, etc.

I would pick:

 

Paul Casey - Very good strong player and has had a great season

Darren Clarke - Everybody loves Darren he has universal appeal and he's an awesome golfer

David Duval - I think this will help Duval get a bit of spotlight on him, he has won a major also

Henrick Stenson - Did well in the ryder cup; holed the winning putt and is a new face that should be around for along time to come

Paula Creamer - She's hot and she can play golf too.

Great responses guys. I appreciate them so far. It's interesting because several of you have asked whether we go with great looking swings, popular players or a players with the reputations that parallel the product. That's the age old question with repect to product endorsements in advertising. For example:

 

Vijay - known as the hardest worker = credibility and inprovement

The reality is, he's not real popular. Someone said Zuback would have sold lots more SpeedStiks and I AGREE completely.

 

Then again, Adam Scott has one of the best swings on tour and Paula and Natalie are great looking with outstanding personalities (oh, and they can play too).

 

What is the formula? I think if you're going to have one player, you have to find a great mix of everything....performance, consumer appeal, reputation and style. However, when you are fortunate to put a group together, I think you can go after players that are stronger in one area vs another if you balance the mix. For example, we picked Freddy because EVERYONE likes Freddy, he's got a great swing to watch and his approach and attitude are appealing to most. In short, if you were flippin' the channel and came across him, most would stop to watch for a bit. Because he and DL3 are such good friends and work well together, we thought Davis would be a great choice, not to mention that he's a great guy with a good swing and has the same camera appeal. When looking at a Camillo, or Bubba or JD, you look for the appeal of the long ball. Their game's may not directly relate to your product but, like Freddy, people will curiously stop to watch. The other thing to keep in mind is using players that are not over used.

 

In short, it's a tough and expensive proposition..... that's why I'm asking all of you.

 

As I said, Freddy has agreed because of what the product can do for him to keep him sharp between events and shortcut his prep time before hand, since he does not play as much. Not to mention his swing and consumer appeal. Davis because of his appeal, swing and talent but also because of his interaction with Freddy. David Toms because of his approach to the game, his steadiness, his appeal and his work ethic. By teh way, all 3 are major champions too. Next, we are looking at Bubba and Camillo as "young guns and long baller because that's what appeals to a lot of people. In addition, we don't want to ignore the ladies so we are looking at Cristy, but Paula sounds like a better choice. I like her appeal and flair. Natalie is great but I think she's a bit over exposed right now.

 

Keep 'em coming guys......this is insightfull and very helpful. It also shows me that we are on the right track. The European suggestions are great too. Clarke, Casey or Donald are good choices.

I would agree with almost all the picks in this thread, have you considered any of the Champions Tour guys? Like Irwin or Haas, You may be able to gain interest from some of the "older" players.

 

I would recommend a PGA, LPGA and Champions player, you cover all the groups, although you have McCord and he plays Champions.

I would agree with almost all the picks in this thread, have you considered any of the Champions Tour guys? Like Irwin or Haas, You may be able to gain interest from some of the "older" players.
