Looking for some recent knowledge about this place.

Is it in good shape? Worth playing?

OK track but way overpriced IMHO. Much better courses at a lower price point, you can probably play both Royal Links and Bali Hai for under $200 through golfnow or groupon.

The Walters courses (Royal Links, Desert Pines, Bali Hai) are the highest priced tourist traps here.

Its a fun course for no more than about $50. More than that and its a complete ripoff.

I live here in town and agree the walters golf courses are expensive but i really like Bali Hai. I have been wanting to play Royal Links for a while now just havent made it out yet. I do have a connection though and can get on Royal for $50.00, so it seems like it would be worth it.

Any updated thoughts on this course? It's google reviews aren't anywhere close to what this thread thinks of it. Just wondering if things have improved over the past 3-4 years. I booked a time for $119 in a couple weeks. Should I be cancelling, ha ha?

Played it a few weeks ago, it's ok in terms of the theme of British golf; however, if you are looking for a better golf experience with better prices, take the drive to Paiute.

Playing Royal links is as close to playing a real British Open course as staying at the Paris Casino is to visiting Paris France. As someone said above, for $50 its okay, but I'd play the Paiute courses 9 times out of 10 given the choice between Royal Links and any of the three Paiute courses

Royal Links is an abomination. It is basically an insult to everyone that has ever played the real courses it tries to copy. I played there once at a company event and think it might be my least favorite course I have ever played. It was over the top cheesy and represented every bad cliche about golf.

 

So, yeah, I don't really care for it.

I played it once in January 2010. Since I haven't played any of the original courses it attempts to replicate, I can't talk about that aspect.

 

As a stand-alone course, it was okay. But of the courses I played in the area (Wolf Creek - Mesquite, Paiute - Snow Mountain, Southern Highlands, TPC Summerlin) it was the weakest.

I had it booked for $119 but I just cancelled and booked Cascata for $219. Yeah it's a hundred bucks, but I don't want to be disappointed. Thanks for all the feedback.

Cascata has the best experience from the time you drive up parking your car to making the locker nameplate to walking down the stairs to get to your cart. Definitely play attention to what your caddie says the first few holes.

Our caddie was absolutely unbelievable. He probably saved me 5-7 shots a side. Course was in great shape and it was well worth the dough. To anyone who goes to Cascata, try and get Moses to caddy for you. He's got some really great intel on the pros that play at there too, haha.
