Rangefinder in the trunk?

Bought a GX1 a couple of weeks ago and I always leave it in my stand bag. My bag always stays in the trunk and it's been pretty damn hot here.

 

Is it safe to leave the rangefinder in the trunk in hot weather?

I don't have rangefinder but I would think [operative word] that leaving it in the trunk probably won't affect it. But it's my understanding that excessive heat can drain a battery faster than when it's cool. Plus who knows how pretty hot heat can affect electronics? It's not worth it in my book!

I have a Bushnel laser yardage finder that is 5 seasons old. It lives in my golf bag which is in the trunk of my car 80% of the year, winter and summer. Still works like a dream.

Mine have spent years in there probably , Florida heat , no apparent adverse effects.

I did play with a guy that had his go bad living in the car. It was a Bushnell. Of course, don't know if I would leave the clubs in there either.

I think you are ok with regard to heat. I leave mine in there all year long in southern CA. I keep mine in a padded case since the vibration and bumps in the road while driving is more likely to damage it than the summer heat.

You're fine. Maybe you're trunk gets up to what, 130-140 max. Electronics work fine in those circumstances.

Your CPU in your computer has a warning when it gets to about 180f.

You should be ok. I've got a GX-1 as well, and leave it in my golf bag, which I leave in the trunk.

As mentioned above, it will drain the battery faster. I had to replace my battery a couple weeks ago and think it died a bit early due to the recent heat wave.
