K-Club putter PROOFS came in today

very rare shafts

These came in today. They are two of the three proofs that were made for the Ryder Cup at the K-Club. All of the heads were Fleetwoods, because that is the only head that could accomodate the handstampings on the sole. The face, topline and sole have been bead blasted and the flange was left to a mirror finish. They were all 304 stainless heads.

The shafts in these are about 30 years old and were made by True Temper and the grips that were installed are the handwrapped Neumann leather.

The Proof 1 putter has been sold to a collector and the Proof 2 is going into my collection. These are very very nice pieces. I love the paintfill on the sole.

sure, the fleetwoods were origially heel shafted only.

 

the handmade Fleetwood I have is heel shafted and has a very long flowing neck with a pencil shaft.

Whats the story on the shafts? Great looking putters by the way.

they were made by True Temper about 30 years ago. They look like "bell" shafts, but are much larger than a bell.

 

back in those days parallel shaft tips weren't very popular for putter shafts, so the larger bells were the norm.

 

However, today, those tips are much larger in diamater than normal bells, so those hosels had to be turned by hand.
