Update: pics of finished work (post#11)

Been planning to get my Mil Spec refinished in black or antique brown. Finally decided on black but can't decide on the paint fills. The metallic gold and white color scheme is the one I'm leaning towards but I also like the dk. grey, blue and pink one my daughter help choose. Those are my kids' names on the back flange, BTW. Adding that and an additional dot sightline.

The first one with the brown looks fine the way it is. Good choices.

I think the 2nd one, with the pink and blue, it is a bit more simple. plus you get the satisfaction that your daughter played a part in its creation. Both options would be awesome anyway.

Pink and blue and black is pretty cool. Don't infill all the letters "FSU" on the sole as it should only have the relevant letter filled in to denote the lie. A small detail but one that would matter to an idiot like me. (cool) Be sure to post the finished product.

blue/pink looks good, also leave the paintfill on the spec, doesnt really matter and it helps balance out the paintfill.

How did you do that?? I would love to do that for my putters to see what they would look like...Did you just copy and paste into paint???

Nope, I'm a graphic designer by trade and drew everything from scratch based on a couple of snap shots. The place I'm getting it refinished liked them and is planning to include them on his order from. BTW, I used Adobe Illustrator.

Alright, here are pics of the finished work. Looks pretty much right on with my drawings. Not sure I got the beautiful matte-finish body and glossy face/sole reflected in my sloppy pics (sorry about all the lint and dust).

 

Much thanks to Kevin at Colbert Putter Plating for doing such a wonderful job on my baby. Past posts were correct in praising his work and his classiness. Anyone considering getting their putter refinished should consider Kevin. Especially, if you want some custom stampings or refinishing options. I'm more than happy with the results as you can tell. And thanks to those of you with your opinions to the original post. It helped me in going with this color scheme.

I believe it was 7 weeks total. Probably would've been sooner but Kevin was swamped at the beginning of the year.

Yeah, Moe. I was considering that or a white one (maybe even pink if they have one). I have a blue Royal Grip on there right now with a BCS#7 in there. Know if those Iomic grips will work with a hole in the butt end?

Punch a hole out to accommodate a Balance-Certified System weight. Wondering if the Iomic magic disappears if the butt end is not in tact. (cool)

 

Seriously, though. I haven't seen one of those grips in person to see what the end cap is like.

Raidernut, haven't tried it out on the greens, yet. Only some rolling on the carpet and laminate flooring. The impact seems a little more crisp but it's still soft. Who knows, maybe that's a result of getting the face re-milled. I'll know for sure when I take it out to the course this weekend.

Tigermj, I paid $155 (black oxide - $60, face remill - $35, neck welding - $35, kids names - $25). Refinishing and stamping would only be $85. That includes shipping and paint fills of your choice.
