Taylormade RSi putter line up - the newest releases from Taylormade!!

I'm not too sure what RSI stands for, but the insert is very soft at impact. The overall weight feels very solid. I would guess head weight is in the 350 gram range. Only available in Japan with a durable black finish. So many neck options for the Corza now, as well. Also a long overlength versions is available for sale.

The grooves have been replaced with a super soft insert. Don't quote me on this, but RSi could stand for "Really Soft insert".. hmmm ;)

 

Nevertheless, the feel is really soft off the face.

If you look closely at the pics, the finish is different from top to bottom.

 

The bottom is a shiny more durable black, while the top is a matte black to eliminate glare.

 

Setting up to putt with the sun glare beaming in your eye...that's the worst, so distracting.

 

Gotta give a thumbs up to the Japanese to think of this!!

RSI (Rossa soft insert) is a new extra soft Thermoplastic elastomer Pebax based on TM's ASGI (Anti-skid Groove System Insert) that was created based on suggestions and input from Tour Pros (I'm guessing JPGA) wanting an even softer feel and delicate touch.

Wow, its the coveted yet ever so elusive black tour corza that was selling for thousands on another site. Only 15 made and will never be made again... Guess they were wrong. I am suprised they dropped the agsi technology as that did seem to work.

Those inserts don't look like they have used Taylor made AGSI (Anti-skid Groove System Insert)s because they don't have any grooves??

 

According to Taylor Made the AGSI, which is used on there current line of Rossa putters, is:

» Twelve uniquely shaped CNC-milled grooves help to promote forwardspin and reduce skid and bounce, equaling superior distance-control and accuracy.

» Each groove is filled with a soft polymer filling that absorbs unwanted impact vibration and contributes to Corza's extraordinarily satisfying feel at impact.

» Weight saved by Rossa's light-yet-strong Titallium insert is redistributed in the perimeter of the putterhead, increasing MOI for exceptional forgiveness on mis-hits

 

It looks like they have retreated on another technological selling point...the AGSI has been replaced by a slice of rubber...when will they lose everyones trust?...genious marketing though

My understanding is that sales of the AGSI were only luke warm at best and they never seemed to get much play with the pros. I guess the AGSI was not all it was built up to be.

Personally, I think the agsi works as I have tried my buddies and it does seem to put a true roll on it. I think they did not sel very wel with the pros as most pros prefer traditional equipment and weight changing mallet heads just don't fit my criteria. I had a very difficult time finding the line with it but don't with my detour. I think because it is a shorter head (front to back) it makes it more difficult for me.

This is just a new product (in Japan), not a replacement. Callaway has muliple inserts, why can't Taylor Made?

Well, how about a thumbs up for putting a satin finish on this particular lineup. But not for the idea.

 

I don't know who invented a black flat tour satin finish, but this is certainly not the first time it's been seen on a putter.

 

I doubt if it was the Japanese, but one never knows.

 

In the US, David Mills has been blasting tour satin black finishes for quite some time, now. I am sure Cameron does this, too, as well as Tom Slighter. In fact, any custom putter maker can do this, and has.

 

The Daytona is a keeper if it is 350g.
