Fujikura Orochi

I think I may well have just struck gold with this shaft in my 3 wood.

 

These are a custom shaft I believe only made for mizuno but I may be wrong. Anyway ive got the 75 gram stiff. i normally use a blueboard 73 x, the fuji seems to be be pretty similar flexwise to the bb73x, they are pretty stout shafts for a stiff. Feel is an improvement on the bb, which is saying something, and its not because its a softer shaft, I dont think it is a softer shaft to be honest.

 

Have been crushing my 3 wood, direct comparison to the blue board, similar launch conditions, better dispersion though, and a better feel. Also Id say picked up 3-4 yards

I had my best numbers with the mp650 driver and this shaft combo, this spring. I'd like to find a pull to put in my mp630 driver, or 3 wood.

It amazes me how underated the Mizzy woods are. I read the Orochi was also comparable to the fuji motore f3, but never tried it. The stock fubuki in the 630 line has always seemed a bit whippy to me. I liked the Orochi when I demo'd it.

how come you wont go to the 650 driver then? For me its far superior to the 630. i thought the fubuki tour they had was great, although not as overall stiff as these new fuji

Because I only buy used and everytime someone puts one up in the BST, I miss it or dont have the funds to spend.

I tell you, the 630 is underated. Maybe I will put the r11s up and pick up the 650.

For me the fairways are money. Only fairways I can keep from going left.

How are the Orichi graphite shafts for irons?

The orochi is about as good a stock shaft as they come. It definitely plays stiffer than your averages stock stiff but I wouldn't put the orochi in the "stock shaft" category really. Also, the BB plays soft to flex for me, especially in the fairway woods. I have hit it in the 650 driver and 15* FW and it is great in both. I've yet to hit a fujikura shaft that I didn't like though (not including the TM stock junk).

I have an Orochi Red Eye shaft in my 650 22* hybrid and it's been really good, didn't compare it to any other shafts in the same head, I compared the hybrid with a few others and it was giving me the best dispersion and the least "leftness" and the yardage that I wanted for a 3i replacement (actually ended up being a very close call with the i20 hybrid to be honest but hybrids take a bit of a hammering and the finish looked more durable on the 650 so I went for that).

Think Mizuno's taken this shaft pretty seriously, would be interesting to hear if Tom Wishon's tested this shaft and can chime in with what after market shaft it's comparable too.

A little late to this thread but I agree. The Orochi has been a perfect match in the 3W for me. Great feel but stiff enough for plenty of control. One of the best shafts I've hit, both OEM and aftermarket.

I wish I could see the profile numbers and see what shafts compare to it.

FWIW there is a video up on the Mizzie Youtube channel where Chris Vosh talks about how it's pretty much a Blueboard for Mizuno. He also mentions they couldn't really stick a lower spinning stock shaft in the head as well since the head is so low spin to begin with.

Just finished testing the 75g orochi in a Razr Fit 3w, and wow how it totally changed the experience. Gone are the high launching high spinning shots off the turf, now there is control and a boring flight than can be adjusted with ball position. Couldn't stop laughing after swinging the club as i watched the balls fly. Total transformation of the Razr Fit head for me, next stop the 9.5° driver

I'm really beginning to like the Orochi Red eye I have in my JPX825 driver. I don't know what it is about the Mizuno stock shafts, but they always seem to fit me well. I had the MX 560 in my bag for years with the stock Exsar shaft and it fit me pretty close to perfect.

There is a video on Youtube with Chris Voshall talking about the Orochi Red Eye and he says it is pretty close in comparison to the Motore F3.

I've been playing MP650 Hybrid 19* and 3 wood 15* with the stock orochi in stiff. Solid shafts for stock stiff no doubt!... Im pulling them out this week though as they still balloon alot for me. Sticking a 90X V2 in the hybrid and a 75X V2 in the 3 wood. Awesome heads though!!!

Can this shaft be ordered from Fujikura or do you have to get it from Mizuno?
