You will want to drink alot, and heckle the players by screaming at them. They will like that. HAHA!!!

Just use the same common sense that you would on the course, and you will be fine. You have to work pretty hard to get in trouble at a golf tourney.

If you seek autograph's, most won't sign while on the course, some do , most won't. Catch them at the end of their round or in the practice area.

Have fun, there is alot to watch at an event. Wear comfy shoes, lots of walking.

Here are my tips:

* Remote Parking lots. I like using off-site parking, and riding a bus/shuttle to the venue. It's usually less expensive, less croweded, and you (usually) can sit in a nice air-conditioned bus to the tournament site.

* Lots of $$$$. The food and drink at pga tournaments are expensive.

* SUNSCREEN. Make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen, as you'll be out there all day (if you're like me, and stay until dark)

* Sunglasses. See above.

* Lip Balm. See above

* Umbrella, if there's a chance of rain, along with one of those inexpensive emergency ponchoes.

* Fanny pack to carry all this stuff in.

* Folding Chair - I never used to carry one (as it's a pain to carry it around), but I started this year, and really enjoy having it. YOu can sit down at a par3, or teebox, and watch several players in comfort.

* All Day, EVERY Day. The PGA Tour only comes to my area for 2 events a year (EDS Byron Nelson Classic, and Colonial), so I try to get a full event pass for Every day. I'll stay from morning to sundown, watching/following players, and checking out the practice green and range. I can't get enough - I love it.

Hope that helps - I LOVE watching tour events, I consider it a lot of fun, and realy enjoy watching the practice range as well, to pick up some tips and techniques they use.

don't be the guy who wears golf shoes. they're not going to call you out to the fairway to hit a shot for them.

map things out. find a good spot to sit for a while. maybe follow a group for a few holes then cut over and start following another group.

go to the range. you'll see how good these guys are.

Haha. That's one of my biggest pet peeves. I can't stand when people do that.

I agree with Sam too. Bring a camera for the practice rounds and share the pics with us. Sunscreen, chapstick, and sunglasses are crucial to have. Drink plenty of water. Have fun!

Read the back of your ticket -- it states quite plainly what your can and cannot do and on which days. For emphasis -- leave your cell phone in the car! Don't even think about a camera on tournament days -- it may be confiscated. Be sure to set your TEVO or VCR to record the event so you can see what you missed. Going to the tournament is great to get up close and personal, ambiance, check out some swings, follow a particular play who may not get much face time, best sense of what a tournament is all about. However, if you want to SEE a tournament -- watch it on TV

Just an adder, the players are much more approachable during practice days, so if you want to try to talk to them, do it on those days. Also crowds are lighter on those days also.

Very true...you can chat with the friendlier ones on the practice day, get autographs near the range and putting green. Some of the caddies will even be kind enough to let you check out the equipment.

My most important item that I bring is sunscreen. Spending eight hours on the course....especially here in Hawaii can be killer on the skin. I like to bring binoculars....in my case I bring "binocamera" which makes it through the gate check. Practice rounds, I bring my regular camera.

Have a great time!

The only thing i would add is remember this is their job, and they are working out there. So don't be disappointed if during the tournament if the players don't acknowlege the fans. They are very focused and are trying to earn a living.

Rember to wear a hat, serves two purposes, keeps the sun out of your eyes, and if it rains it helps keep you a little dryer and if you wear glasses it keeps them dryer also.

Most of all have fun :clapping:

Are there any rules/etiquette I should be aware of?  Are you allowed to bring a camera to the practice rounds...tournament?

Just looking for some first time advice...

on tournament days get out there early and walk with the people that may not be well known. the crows are small and you can really get to know some of these pros. they appreciate you walking with them since there is not many that does so they appreciate the fan support and these people can play even if they are not at the top of their profession you have to have game to be there and you can learn a lot from them also. they still hit shots that prove to you that they belong in that group.

      Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
