Bandon Dunes weather

What are considered to be the best months to visit? If you go in July or August, will it always be warm... or do you need rain/wind/cold gear?

It's the Oregon Coast... anything could happen. Be prepared for anything. I just went 3 weeks ago and it was 30* in the middle of the night and a high of 55* during the day with clear and sunny skies, then in the matter of 10 minutes it went from cloudless to so foggy you couldn't see 10 feet in front of you. Always a great time there, regardless.

I have been there in the dead of winter and mid-summer, while generally warmer in the summer, you'll still get wind and rain. I pack the same, summer or winter, except throw in a couple a pair of shorts for spring/summer.

I wore shorts 5 days straight in February (cheap then too).

August was fantastic. Sunny and 65ish every single day. Not even a hint of rain. Also the month with the lowest average rainfall at some ridiculously low amount.

Mid afternoon fog might roll in. Temps run low 50's in the morning to mid 60's middle of the day, with the occasional scorcher in the high seventies. Wind south westerlies (Portside breeze) varying. Sun glasses and layered clothing proves useful.

I played in March 99 or 2000 right after it opened and it was about 35 degrees and the wind was blowing 30+. Still one of my favorite courses despite those conditions

lived in bandon for 2 years. Id go mid feb to late march or mid sep to early november. it could rain any and everyday of the year but it tends to be more mild those times of year. I go in february when i go back and that will never change. people are foolish to go in july and august

June is a crapshoot.... could be great. Could be raining sideways. If you stay 3+ days you're going to have a beautiful time mixed with a few moments of WTF. Summer starts July 5th as they say up here...

Went Feb 27th- March 3rd. First day was wet. Then the weather was fantastic. Wind blows a lot less that time of year and the weather is not that much cooler. The summer winds are brutal, but it is dry.

[/quote] It could be 80 and sunny but that will bring the wind. it could be 50 and overcast or it could be cold and rainy. You will probably get a little of both. but thats part of the fun isn't it? Enjoy. Get off the property and enjoy old town Bandon.

I will be there 8-9-10 July,this forum has been very helpful in learning what to expect & what to take with me.Seems like preparing for the worst and not needing some of the things you bring is the best plan.I have been living on a sub-tropical island for 9yrs and if it gets into the 50's here we are freezing so im taking plenty of layers.

I think that's the best approach. We use the same thinking when we take a day trip to the coast: Take Everything, You May Need It.

I tend to pack light for trips in general, but my Ford Escape was loaded for my four days at Bandon in April.

I used most of it, eventually, too...

I'm thinking of shipping my clubs for the first time.....who do u guys use? I am worried that my clubs won't get there as I have a connecting flight out of Denver.

AS of right now I am only playing Old Mac on the 10th but might play the reserve after lunch....

End of Feb is the best time for weather/ prices. I was down there Feb 22-24. Day 1, it rained sideways and blew 30, but my last two days were perfect, in the 50's and mostly sunny. I will say that by hole 9 on the first day, my rain gear was useless, I was soaked to the bone. But at least now I have a story to tell.

Bandon has a company they recommend on their website.

I've never shipped my clubs as I'm in Canada.

Just came back from my first trip there -- early July highs were 65-70 degrees, but at 7 AM (first tee time) the real-feel temp w/ winds was 55 degrees. The wind really will make it feel colder, so I'd suggest bringing a golf windsweater for the morning rounds. Lite windshirt is fine for the afternoon, which has even higher winds on most days.

I used ShipSticks (which Bandon Dunes recommended) and they got my clubs there on time for a fair price.
