The one in Roger's sure was nice. Too short though I guess. Didn't they get closed down because of too many balls carrying the back fence or was it something else? Very convenient right off the highway also. It takes me 45 minutes each way to get to Chaska to GolfZone. I could get to Rogers in 25 because it was all highway.

The two heated ranges you listed are the only ranges I know about. I'd rather clean my clubs than practice in a simulator. I'll practice on a launch monitor indoors, but my experience with simulators simply isn't impressive. I love the heated I/O ranges though.

Some friends of mine have opened this facility, not trying to shill, but offering an option. There are 3 local Pro's for lessons as well.

There is a good range, 60 yd short game area with a bunker and 3 Trackmans.

PM if you need additional info.

I live near this place and have been planning to get in there. I'll try to swing by tonight and let you guys know what I think!

mngolfacademy is appealing...however it is still in the south. Us northerners have nothing. My offer still holds true, we need to open something up here. I have a business management degree, have been an account executive, business owner, golf professional, and project manage. If I could get together the right crew and the right location, I think we would do just fine.

Granted we would probably need to figure out why the previous one failed. Seems like a solid model though, since the golf season here is inverse to the rest of the country.

Went up and checked out Minnesota Golf Academy tonight. Met Tony, really nice guy, seemed really excited about getting the place going. A lot of golfers there, I think maybe 1 or 2 high school teams while I was there. Once they cleared out a little it was pretty quiet, plenty of room to putt which was nice. The putting green rolled really nice and had a lot of different breaks that could be played. Spent some time on the range as well, mats were in good condition and the area is long enough that you can get an idea of what your ball flight is going to look like, plenty of stalls as well! Chipping area looked nice, didn't get a chance to use it but I saw some people hitting onto it and it looked good as far as simulating an actual green. Two trackmans going which looked like a lot of fun as well. All in all a great facility for getting through the winter and those rainy days, I'd definitely recommend stopping in! Couple pics below.

Rooney...Good write up and pictures. Tony is an employee, but the owner is in your second picture, 3rd from the right. I usually go up there around 8:00 and putt for a while and from 8:30 -10:00 you can have free run of the place. There are 3 instructors there as well.... Eric Chiles, Luke Benoit and Aaron Ressler if you are looking to have someone take a look at your swing. The chipping area has a green that can accept shots from up to 60 yards. It has a sand top dressing, so the balls actually check

It is really a good facility for all they have to offer.

Thanks for the clarification! I'm planning to start going up there later in the evenings so I'll likely see you there!

Just got home from MN Golf Academy. Tony is a great guy. Showed me around, explained everything in detail and couldn't have been nicer.

I liked the facility. The short game area is pretty cool and like nothing else available here in the winter.

They were really busy but Tony said next time I go he will let me check out the Trackman. He also confirmed you can share the punch cards for the Trackman with a buddy so you can save some money since most guys dont need 10 hours on a trackman.

I think it failed because the range was too short and poor advertising. I didn't even know about it until a friend told me in February.

Not really a "range" but this place does have an indoor practice area and good quality AboutGolf simulators which are accurate.
Eden Prairie though. Doah.

I was just going to suggest Inside Edge! I worked there this past winter and its a great facility. There is a PGA pro on staff, one other pro that teaches lessons out of there in the winter, and I'm an assistant pro right now working towards PGA certification so the staff is knowledgeable about the game and equipment. There are some fitting carts tucked in the back as well.

Northern Palms... used to visit there quite a bit, also being on the north side.

Several years ago, there was a bad storm that came through the area. The nets at Northern Palms were damaged, apparently badly, and they never reopened afterwards.

I never heard if they chose not to replace the nets, if they didn't have insurance, if they finally decided to quit worrying about people trying to bomb the ball over the nets, in spite of them already using reduced flight balls, or any number of these or other things.

I'd heard they were running lazer tag out there, but I took that with a grain of salt.
