I am surprized that no other company came up with the idea. Pulling a raincover over the whole bag is just annoying and out of date. good product there. Ogio! do the same!

you do, but you don't have to pull a big cover over the whole bag, blocking zippers, towel and stuff...

How about just waterproof pockets? It would be cheaper and still protect your items. Keep gloves, scorecard, rulebook, cellphone, smokes, etc dry.

My only complaint is that the straps on that bag are much too thin!!

 

It was the dealbreaker for me.

 

Now if they went with the Lightning Straps, they'd have a sale.

Absolutely. I have a Mizuno Twister bag with the same problem. Bag straps should be as thick as a filet mignon, not a Steak'um!

I returned my SM 3.5 because of the crappy straps. The 2005 version was PERFECT. Thick straps, all the features. Their bags are going downhill.

I need to update all that are interested on further Sun Mountain developments.

 

Since I mentioned that I'd rather have thicker straps on a SM 3.5SL or even the Mini Bag, I checked with my retailer, who called SM.

 

If you order through your retailer, SM will take a 3.5 bag and place the thicker straps of the Lightning bag on to your 3.5 - just ask the retailer to order that way - no extra charge. I also called SM CS and they confirmed.

 

Then I asked "What else is new besides the H20 Tech bag with waterproof pockets and zippers are you introducing?

 

CS told me that they are debuting at the PGA Show a 3.5SL with HUG strap. It is the 3.5 bag with a strap designed to reduce the strain on your shoulders and place it on the hips. She could not give me more details -- except it is an aluminum-based strap - not a belt (I think) - that helps balance the bag and take off weight.

 

Sounds good!

 

Guess I'll wait until after the PGA Show to order a bag. I certainly need a HUG sometimes when playing.

 

If anyone is going to the Show, please watch for this "innovation" with details!

Perhaps HUG is SMs answer to Ogios Shling.... Shling is great but far from perfect, i am curious if SM can do that better!
