I've seen this one before - IIRC it was made for TW as a backup, and is now in the hands of the Table Rock guys. If it was made for him as a backup, it's probably pretty darn close to his gamer. I don't think it's his ACTUAL gamer, as there's really no need for him to have a COA on that, is there?

I have been told that most tour players putters are not in the registry. Tiger has a couple of backups made for him every year so there must be 12 (maybe a few more) putters like this one floating around. I know of a collector at TCC that owns one of these. Tiger has such a discerning eye that he can spot if the sight line on a backup is a paper's width wider than his gamer and will/has rejected the backup just for that reason.

No, this is not Tiger's gamer but a very close facsimile.

I've heard this story so many times. From Scotty first and then repeated.

Apparently it wasn't that Tiger saw that the sight line was wider.

Rather, he thought the putter felt different to his usual gamer. He mentioned this to Scotty, and Scotty assured him it was identical. Then, when Scotty checked it under a microscope, the sight line was a gnat's dick wider.

So Tiger's eye isn't discerning, it is his hands.

It's a great story, but I don't believe it for a second.

Tiger's gamer has no T.W. stamped on the face.

Tiger's gamer has no mill marks on the face, instead the face is bead-blasted, just like the rest of the putter so that there is no glare.

Tiger's gamer has a nasty ding on the topline towards the heel-portion in the face-side.

Tiger's gamer has a strip of lead tape on the sole.

No way can that be Tiger's gamer.

Hope this clears everything up.

Tiger's gamer does have T.W stamped on the face.

Tiger's gamer did have mill marks that have somewhat worn off over the yeras.

Tiger's gamer had no leadtape on the sole, I'm not positive about now.

I think a member here owns one of those as well. That is definitely not his gamer though.

I thought that was the story about Tiger testing either new irons or one of the new Nike drivers. For some reason, one of the head's and/or shafts weighed a little more and even though the technical guy disagreed, Tiger insisted. Sure enough, upon measurement, it was heavier by like 1/2 gram or something ridiculous.

Tiger has no sight line he uses the sight dot. THe story is close to this but he said the sight dot was bigger and it was by a very small margin. The story is true. And TW's putter do not have any initals on the face.

When Tiger won I think the British Open last year there was a closeup of Tiger's worn out putter on ScottyCameron.com. There were initials on that one (which I assume is a gamer) and every other backup I've seen. My guess is either there's no paintfill in them or they were removed in a remilling.

If Scotty is trying to produce an exact replica of Tiger's putter in case something happens to his gamer why is he going to throw initials on it? That just doesn't make any sense.

Oops, I meant site dot and I do believe it.

For example, I was training at a customer's site in Kentucky and replace a weld torch contact tip. The weld wire the customer is using is 0.035 (inches). The first contact tip appeared a fraction larger than normal. I compared it to several contact tips from the same bag from the weld company and sure enough, it was about 0.005 of an inch wider. I could see it as plain as day. This is what I do for a living so I know what to look for. I am certain Tiger is the same with his eye.

No milling according to this... and no TW on the face.

Also, I don't recall any lead weight on the sole either.

That's Tiger's gamer all right. You can see, just to the right of the sight dot on the top line (face view), you can see the ding.

The lead weight is just one strip. You can see it in the pics of Tiger's putter in the Japanese Scotty Cameron World Book.

The ding has been there as early as 2002.

I believe Tiger sent his gamer in to the Studio for treatment after the British Open.

It seems that T.W. is added to the backups that Tiger rejects.

He rejects almost all of, if not all of, them. I read an article by him and he talked about Scotty never making one that felt like his gamer. I think his back up is a Nike now.

This is not entirely certain. It has been reported that he has a Nike backup. He also has Cameron backup(s), number uncertain. It has never been reported what he actually uses as his real backup. Maybe it is a Nike. I certainly have read nothing to indicate definatively what is the real backup.
