the lights in the show were terrible and just did not do the new color finishes justice. In the sunlight the oilcan will be anywhere from brown to purple and the sapphire is ellectric.

You should pull the head, drill a hole through the neck, and wear it as a necklace :rolleyes: I am hoping to secure one asap. If so, I believe the sun will rise early in the states from the glare that baby will put off :cheesy: Guam's motto is "Where Americas's day begins..."

I absolutely love mine. I never thought anything had a chance to bump my Tradition from the bag, but the plumbers neck Softail might just do it.

 

Great flow, terrific feel, and David's grip is the perfect touch to complete the package.

Jay- that putter is FANTASTIC. I have had a softtail stainless/bead blasted with a plummer's neck and custom stamps on order with David since the fall...I am so anxious to hear anything about it from David - any idea when he will be back in the shop working on custom orders? Not much longer (4 weeks or so) and I will be heading west for a trip...I would love to have it for then.

While I didn't go as crazy as many of you (!!), I bought 4 from David at the show...

a Tradition, a SoftTail, a Tradition custom centershaft, and a Fleetwood. David was just giving great deals - all together I got the 4 putters, 3 hats, and 4 of his new grips (which are awesome btw) for just a hair less than $600.

 

He was afraid he wouldn't sell many there he told me! They were really selling well the two days I was at the show (thurs/fri).

 

Dave's great and loves to talk putters!

Good question. It's 35" and feels heavy (>340g headweight) but I have not swingweighted it yet (which I will do) nor have I pulled the head to weigh it (which I have no plan to do).

 

The lie-angle feels like it is a degree or so flat (70* or 71* I'd guess). Not sure about the loft -- but it really puts a nice roll on the ball on my carpet -- too miserable here to play :)

 

Maybe Jay can chime in with the specs, if he knows.

believe it or not, that is not a nickel finish, it is just a 304 stainless head that has been bead blasted.

a lot of those putters back in the day were bent a couple of degrees flat. could very well be the case on that one, too.

I'll have to second all the comments here. I just received a handmade TP Mills carbon Softtail putter this morning from David Mills and it's exceeded my expectations of his craftsmanship. Very impressive and it felt very nice putting on my carpet this evening.

 

Can't wait to putt with it outdoors when it warms up somewhat.

I've used a TP Mills putter since 1974 ... only two versions ... first a Spalding TPM 1 (with the ferrule) and and then a Mizuno TPM 1. I'm not a collector, but a user ... I figure it's time to get a handmade from David.

 

After seeing your putter, I know what I want ... and it won't be a lot different from yours, though a little. One thing I'm a little unsure of is the shaft choice ... I'm contemplating the pencil shaft, but not sure. Do you know what type of shaft yours has and/or which has a soft feel to it?? After seeing yours, I know I want to go with the ferrule and the blue sapphire finish ... just a beautiful throwback to some of the old versions with a modern finish/look.

sweet ... thanks for that feedback. one more question ... does the new version pencil shaft have a .600 butt vis-a-vis the old version with the skinny .500 butt?

 

in other words, is the pro pistol gripmaster going to fit on there nicely :-)?
