Nickent Omen putters

Went to Golf Galaxy at lunch today to try out some putters. My GoLo S has not been behaving. So I went out to go try a few #9 style putters. But while messing around I noticed that GG had a few putters with a few Super Stroke grips on them. I already use the 2.0 grip, but wanted to see how the others felt. They had the SS grips on Nickent Omen 1B putters. Took a few putts with it and wow. The head on this putter was a little bigger than I am used to but the weight on it felt so nice with the SS grip. I took about 10 more putts and was very impressed with it. And for $89 I am considering picking one up.

 

Does anyone game one or have tried one out?

Looking around the net, I can't even find the same model Omen as they had at GG. It was marked "demo". It was a single bend shaft on an anser style head. Anyone see one around for sale please let me know.

I have an Omen at home, but it's a pretty old model and is not an anser style head. It has a great feel and headweight though, and I still use it on occasion.

I have been seaching online since coming back from lunch and I can't find this head anywhere. It is the Answer Omen Tour 1B. I may go back to GG and see if they will sell their demo putter.

This style is not listed on GG or Dick's websites.

It's a new line of Nickent putters. Dick's bought the Nickent name and is now the Dicks/Golf Galaxy house brand. The putter is part of the newer Nickent Omen Tour putters I believe they released this year.

I rolled one of these in dicks while I was waiting on the wife to get done shipping at the mall so I had plenty of time to try everything. I tried the same putter. I WA just messing around but was very surprised at the feel and looks of this putter. I was very impressed for the price tag. I think it was 89.99. If I didn't have a closet full already, I would have picked one up.

They had that one at GG yesterday, along with the #1 and #2. I am wondering if this 1B wasn't an actual release but something produced and then had the plug pulled on it before hitting the shelf. I may hit GG again today to take some pics and ask them about it.

I also happened upon this Nickent OMEN Tour 1B putter at my local Golf Galaxy as well. It was marked at DEMO too and I had the exact same experience as JFSHARP21. Picked it up to try the SuperStroke 2.0 and happened to really like how the putter felt and set up. I have been working on a reverse overlap grip with more forward press and that putter really set up exactly like I have been trying to achieve. Hummmm.... at $89 it could be worth a try!

Rolled these as well recently while at GG but didn't notice if it was the 1B model or not but it did have a SS grip on it. Gotta get back and spend more time with it as it actually felt pretty darn good

Went again to GG today. Asked the guys there if I can buy the Demo and was rejected. They searched to see if the 1B model was available to order but that too wasn't possible. Snapped a few pics comparing the 1B and #2

Exact same experience at Golf Galaxy this past week........ loved the putter but it was marked Demo with the SS grips... had about 4 or 5 of them with the different sized grips.......... but none for sale........ very strange.

Same exact experience for me!!!! I love the 1b, I have been searching for more than a month to no avail. And like you, I asked the guys at GG if I could buy and was rejected. This is very strange that we can't find this putter.

I went to GG today and they now have 5 1B's as demos. 4 had super strokes and the other had the counter balance grip on it.

What store were you able to order it from? I have had the same experience where I tried the 1B and loved it. (I tried it with the Secret Grip). I asked the sales guy and the manager about it being released after Labor Day and I wanted to order it. They told me they have NO info on it.

I went to Golf Galaxy today and rolled the 1B again. It fell off the radar with so many new releases. Well, its def back on the radar. GG employee knew nothing of a post labor day release or that even was even going to be in production. Where did you hear this from?

I was in GG today and rolled the 1b with the 2.0 grip. Very sweet. I heard the rep give the same speech. I went to GG site tonite and it is avail, as the number one. No mention of grip, but that's easy. It's $79.99 for the number 1. I loved the heavy feel with the 2.0 grip

I guess I need to find some clubs to trade in!

Sorry to say but I hate this putter. It has heel hang...at least all the ones at my GG do. They are the putters they have the demo grips on (variety of SuperStroke and the Secret Grip) but they just feel so weird. I checked the balance and noticed they are like 1:30 or 2:00 heel balanced, very strange.

I just got the same type story for the GM at the new GG store in Grapevine, TX. He said they have someone wanting to buy that putter almost daily. I was told that the 1B is not in production, and he is not sure if it will be in production. The GM has asked Nickent and Dick's to release the 1B based on the rave reviews about the demo. He went on to tell me that Nickent gave very specific instructions regarding using the SS grips to offset the weight on the demos. He also said the swing weight was G1, which sounded crazy. I even went to the nearest Dick's hoping to find the same thing and a less informed clerk who would sell me the demo, but the pro there didn't know anything about the 1B.

If anyone finds the 1B online or in a store, please post here. I am dying to get my hands on one of these.

Couldn't resist anymore so I went to GG today and picked up the #1. I spoke with the GM and he was unaware of any production or release of the DEMO 1B's. So I picked the #1 up and immediately put the 15g weights in. The stock players wrap isn't my cup of tea and at 76g its going to get tossed for a SS mid slim 2.0 at 50g to hopefully up the swing weight a tad. Playing Friday in a charity tournament so I'm excited to put this putter through its paces. One thing that stands out to me is the TPU insert is the same material, look, and feel to Seemore's Si line.

Well, the plot thickens. I went to Dick's today, and yes they have the Tour 1,2, mallet. But, it is very different. They look the same, but the 1b's I've tried, felt much heavier and were heel weighted. The heel was down; and had 10g weights. The Dick's models has severe toe-drop and had 2, 15g weights. To me they did not feel anywhere near the same. I would buy the 1b in a flash, but not the models I tried today.

Today I was able to get out and play my first 18 holes with this putter. Spent about 20 minutes on the practice putting green getting used to the feel and speed of the putter. I have to say that I actually like this putter a lot even more so than what I thought at the store. The ball has a very good roll of the face and is very consistent. Misses on the heel and toe were felt and I could easily tell when I hit it on either. I think the 15g weights were spot on for me with this putter. I was thinking of the SS 2.0 grip but ill stick to the stock grip for now as it wasn't that bad.

This popped up on the Golf Galaxy website today. The 1B is now availabe as a counter balanced putter with a stock "Boccieri Heavy Grip"
