New to phx from England

Hey long story short I'm moving to Phoenix next week, avondale to be precise, renting a place but can anyone recommend any cheap places for furniture etc any shops that sell used furniture??

 

Looking forward to a lot of golf once I have a job sorted, so will look forward to hopefully getting a few rounds in with a few of you guys

There are a couple of courses out by the racetrack (Phoenix International Raceway) that are supposed to be decent. I haven't played them.

Look for a place called Teri's consignment for used furniture. Ashley, Room Store for some decent stuff for not a whole lot of money. Pick up a Sunday paper and look thru ads.

Welcome to phoenix. if you are paying cash there is no better place to furnish your house than Delaneys Furniture Auction in phoenix. They sell Ashley Furniture/Costco Furniture/and many other brands. I have botten $350 entertainment centers for $60 full queen bedroom sets for $250. It's not in the nicest part of town but it's a great bargain and they have auctions every wednesday nights at 7pm. Here is their website.

I'm not a fan of IKEA.. I like my furniture to be made up of actual wood and not particle board ha.

When my wife and I moved here we bought all of our appliances and some furniture off craigslist. IMO there is no other way to get great stuff for less as long as you don't mind used (or as I call it predepreciated).

Also I question your sanity moving from England to Phoenix in July.

Oh and if I was living in Avondale I would buy a city pass and play Aguila all the time.

If youre going to be living to be living west of i-17, i'd actually save the money. Don't buy furniture, just buy a handgun and stick up fools for their property. Don't worry, everybody does it. PS Im allowed to talk crap on west phoenix, I'm from there haha.


If youre looking for any kitchen appliances such as a fridge, toaster, micro, and a nice steel/glass table and set of chairs, let me know as we just remodeled and would be willing to cut you a hell of a deal if you bought the bundle and hauled it all away.

Craigslist Scottsdale/East Valley and you'll be just fine. We send all our old stuff out to the West Side when we're done with it. It's technically the world's largest charity exchange. Many times you can see folks lined up Central, they stand there for hours, patently waiting for the next truck to come drop stuff off.

Thanks for all the help finally got semi settled down here, hopefully off to play golf for the first time tomorrow, weather is very hot but getting used to it slowly will see more tomorrow how I cope. Ikea has been great help and a few things from Walmart nice mix of the two

Coldwater got a cheap deal there so thought would try it out and my wifeteaches in a school not far away
