Just ran some online tee times for Sunday on Teemaster around 1PM. Some ideas:

Baker National, Medina. (I've only played it once and it's on the Chaska side of town.)

Columbia, Columbia Heights. "Football Special" 18 & cart for $29+tax

Loggers Trail, Stillwater. Hudson side of town. I think their fall rates are pretty reasonable.

Tanners Brook. We know it. We love it. (Right?) ha ha! Greens are still good anyway, no aeration this fall. $26 walking weekends right now.


Saturday is a little iffy looking on the weather. I might have to make that my "wake up and see" round of the weekend.

Had a great time with da WRXguys at Northfork today. Course was in really nice shape. One of the maintanence staff guys, it was his last day we learned, and he got to have a little "farewell" fun with the pin placements for his last day. They were a [i]wee[/i] bit challenging. Putted right off the green on #5! I've played there a lot and I've not seen so many crazy hole locations! With 20+MPH at times, it was a brute out there. Got it around in 77! Woot!

Baker was as challenging as I remembered it and then some. My score started with an "8" at least, but it was by far my worst round of the year.
Getting used to a new set of irons on tough tracks is, well.....tough.
The greens were much faster than the last time I played it. Very undulating. I forgot how undulating they are. Great course though. I definitely want to play it more in the future.

That first hole is a bit of a pain.

Last year, I played there, was having a very good start to my round. I think I was -2 thru six holes, and I hit to 12 feet on #7, on the correct tier. I got a bit too jacked, blew the putt way by the hole, threejacked, and the wheels were completely came off on the next hole.

When the wheels start coming off at Baker, it usually means the cart falls down a cliff.

Uggh. Must be #7. Had a smooth TRIPLE. It was playing 149 yards to a front pin location. Uggh. Followed by a smooth double on #8 from the left fairway bunker. I had my feet slip on nearly every bunker shot yesterday the sand is so soft there. Tough to keep your footing!
I was never so embarrassed collecting my winnings after a round. J & I ham and egg'd it perfectly.

Thing about that course that makes things interesting from the get-go: the yardages of the different tee boxes.
We played the tips at 6,762. Next set of tees is only 6,294. Really forces your hand to start the day, especially that first hole. They should do a combo set of tees out there in the 6400-6500 range. With our group and the temps, that would have been much better.

#8 doesn't look like much, but with the slopes on each side, it's a LOT tighter than it looks.

I was on top of the world going driver->20º hybrid into #1 and making par. It was all downhill from there.
I was up on the right side of the hill on #8 last time, so of course I had to play the left side and check out that fw bunker. Not a good angle in from over there. DON'T do it!!

I've always hit fairway wood on that hole, but I'm starting to wonder if I shouldn't hit driver. Or maybe 5 iron, instead. LOL
