The only thing harder than my last 5 holes (14 over stretch), was waking up this morning.
Water + old body = oxide, lots of it. Went to bed at 9pm, woke up at 11am.

Taking a 10 on par 5 #10 doesn't help the score much. LOVE that hole. Any hope for the day went bye bye on that hole and another double on #14.
It was a very ugly brand of golf on my part yesterday. Being 7 over for two holes is tough to overcome. 87. High score of the year for me easily.
Some respectable pars, one birdie, and one long drive +37 yards to win a long drive hole with the XL Custom driver.
That was the extent of the glory for my day. Tough going out there. I just don't play if its that cold and wet usually.
My body feels like a FiretrUCK ran me over yesterday.

Pretty sure the only drive I hit out of the middle was on #1 and I pulled it hard. I also only hit one iron out of the middle.
My "long drives" were so far off the heel it was comical. Not sure how I hacked an 80 out.

It's funny, once we got to the back nine, and things got tighter, I suddenly couldn't hit the ball off the tee, except on a couple holes where it went roughly in the direction I wanted. On the front, I was more or less hitting the ball right where I wanted, except for that damn 8th (so much for 90% air) hole.

Didn't help me shoot an adequate score, though.

I like to think I'd have had a decent front nine number if not for that damn tree on #8. The bad birdie putt on #9 didn't make me feel any better.

I set up a bit too far left on the tee box, thinking about hitting the baby draw that I seem to be playing lately, whether I want to or not. Checked the wind, decided to hit the ball to the left portion of the green and let the wind drift it to the pin, but didn't change my tee position, and hit an overhanging branch off that bare (or dead?) tree on the left.

It actually was going about where I wanted it to, I just didn't think the tree was in play in any way. I just got totally lucky.

They are surprisingly low spin and at the same time it has adequate height to the shot and isn't too stiff to load. Very anti-left shaft. If you like to play a power fade, a very good choice.

DI7 went into the G25 today. That was nice. Very nice.

I saw the label on my Black Tie when I regripped it. It's only 253cpm raw. In spite of that (I've historically been an Xstiff guy), the shaft holds up well in my swing.

Contrast that with my NV85 X in my 3 wood, or in another driver I played a few rounds this year.

As a side note, I've always assumed part of the higher price tag on some of these shafts is related to QC rejection rates. It's easier to make a shaft that consistent with a higher reject rate.
(then there's the tour usage, the lower price charged to OEMs, etc)

Would have done It sooner But our course was a little slow in marking them down. Almost pulled the trigger last night off GolfSmith Figured I could wait one more day. Let the Wife cool off completely. Took her to dinner at the course and bought it afterwards. Think I'll be trying it out this weekend at a course in the Big City not sure which one yet.
