I could come but im like a 20+ handicapper.

Welcome to the group. Worst case scenario, you will leave with a sleeve of pink balls.

I am in with the pizza, and if I get a designated driver, I can take a sip or two. The only thing that impressed me more than the prices of merchandise at the clubhouse (end of season cleanup?), was the variety of the bar cabinet. I thought I was in a MGM store in the hood.

Covert Performance with a Black Tie was probably ny favorite driver combo when the new drivers came out this past winter. I just couldn't afford one ever
Get the Cleveland XL Custom then with the Black Tie. $199 full retail right now. INSANELY good deal!
This driver is the boom-diggity. Sleeper of 2013 for sure. No one seems to be talking about it. They should be.

I can't deal with the deep face, and the sleeper of the year is my driver, the Amp Cell

E9 Face tech is the same on the Amp Cells as the ZLE. I didn't expect a dud out of Cobra with the AC. It wasn't flying under my radar at all after the ZLE experience I've had. :taunt: I just didn't hop on the one loft bandwagon. Been tempted to game the 'ol Forged Pro CB Cobras lately. But the S-56's have just been too good to me!! :superman:

That was, unfortunately, a very nice drive and 3W shot with the Coverts! LOL! (No, stop the 'hoing madness! No mas, no mas!!)
Your setup was great with the VTS black shafts. I'd need THAT setup if I got them I think. Love those shafts.
I expect to have this XL Custom in the bag for the event on Saturday. It's been really good to me.

its the years of having to swing easy to sniff the fairway that I blame. The kid goes full bore all the time, I used to be a few yards by him when we both hit good drives but ever since he got the ACP he's 15+ by me all day
Yeah I have so much control when I can back off and shorten up a little but heck I like to keep it interesting! I always just swung hard since I was a baseball player and when I picked up golf I had to try and keep up with you so I just trained myself to control my swing when I go a full bore.

Mr Divots and I were just talking about switching to golf from baseball.

It can be tough to go from being a pull hitter to a golfer. Good thing I spent five years working on hitting the ball to right field....

The theory is fairly basic. Think: hit to center field.

Theory easy. Application of that theory, not so much. LOL

I was a hit it all over the field kinda guy. Line drives to the outfield was my hitting strategy
Nope, I hit bullets over/at the short stop, at the pitcher or between the pitcher and 1'st baseman. Most often though they went straight at the short stop's head and ley would usually just dive to avaid it rather than catch it haha! Guess that's why I hit so many single's and then just stole my way around the bases! Shoulda stuck with baseball, it was so much easier than golf!

Amusingly, I had ridiculous power, but pretty much only down the left field line, and of course, foul territory. I have this memory from softball, of short hopping an object that was equally distant from the plate as the 275 fence, with a line drive that didn't get 15' off the ground. Unfortunately, it was also about 30-40 feet foul. Uh, yeah.

Sometimes I wish I could have figured out how to apply that to balls hit to left center, for example, while I still playing and cared about such things. LOL

Aside from that, I was mostly a solid line drive guy. <shrug>

Here's a little info about the front 9 for you guys.

Hole 1 371 yards Par 4

The first hole at Bulrush Golf Club is a short par 4 that gently doglegs to the right. The dogleg is protected by a bunker on the right that is easily carried with a good drive, but takes a big drive to carry into the fairway. The green is slightly elevated and has two tiers, the first of which slopes to the front, and the second that slopes to the back right corner of the green.

Hole 2 155 yards Par 3

Hole two is a straight forward par 3. From the back tees it requires a carry over the corner of a pond to a green that slopes from back to front. This hole often plays directly into or with the wind so select your club carefully.

Hole 3 467 yards Par 4

Hole 3 is the hardest handicap hole on the front nine. It requires a long accurate drive to leave a mid iron into a green that is slightly elevated and protected by bunkers on both sides.

Hole 4 625 yards Par 5

Hole 4 is the longest hole on the golf course and reaching the green in two is quite the accomplishment. The drive requires a carry over marshland to a wide fairway. There is a bunker right of the fairway that is in play for long hitters and marshland down the whole right side of the hole. A good second shot is required to leave a short club in your hands for your approach to the green which is protected by bunkers on the left side.

Hole 5 409 yards Par 4

The fifth hole is not a long hole and long hitters can cut off some distance from the gentle dogleg by playing down the right side along the water. The safe play is to hit to the 150 stake in the fairway which will give you a clear view of the green. The green is large and fairly flat with a gentle back to front slope.

Hole 6 537 yards Par 5

Hole 6 is the most often birdied hole, but it can play tricky if into the wind. There are bunkers right of that you will want to avoid if you want to reach the green in two. With a back right pin location the best layup is down the left side of the fairway which will allow a shot to be played between the bunkers to a small green.

Hole 7 412 yards Par 4

The seventh hole doglegs right and long hitters can carry the dogleg leaving a wedge in to a large green. Play extra club into the green due to the uphill approach and a large false front. The green slopes from back left to front right and the smart approach is short and right of the pin.

Hole 8 191 yards Par 3

The eighth hole is a long par 3 over wetland to a small green. The green is the toughest on the golf course sloping severely from back to front. The safe play is to miss the green short and right leaving a simple chip uphill to the pin.

Hole 9 304 yards Par 4

The finishing hole on the front 9 is a risk reward hole offering longer hitters a chance to drive the green. The safe play is an iron down the right side of the fairway to leave a short approach shot into a green that slopes from back to front and funnels to the center.

Back 9 will be done tomorrow hopefully.

It's not to bad, #3 I usually go driver then a 6 or 7 iron but with the wind against me I have had as much as a 2-iron left, I think my bro and I both remember how that turned out! #4 is just a hole were par is a decent score birdie is good and eagle is not likely at all. Don't block a drive way right and lay up to your favorite wedge/short iron and stick one close!

That's a known issue I can't figure out. I'm working on the course tour with pictures of every hole and I'll have it up before the outing so everyone can see the hole to go along with the description.

So the worst day of the week is Saturday 63 and rain. Sounds about par for MN

We'll have to wait until about 12 hours before the event to pay attention to any forecasts. Even then, they have a hard time getting it right.
They'll be wrong. We WANT rain for the drought. So it won't rain. (Reverse weather psychology!)
Can't be much worse than the weather we had for the most recent Tanners group. LOL!

Got some Odyssey swag inbound tomorrow. I need to play some more so I don't embarrass myself in two weeks!

Yeah I have played once since the last outing, that is gonna have to change. Also the the market for a nice new set of blades so if anyone has anything they are trying to get rid of just let me know!
