Well, he does source it out because they're made by Geotech. You can even buy them directly from Geotech. It's quite a stretch to say he "supervises everything." In the boutique club business, you go the OEM manufacturer and give them your design ideas, and they work with you. Many times they have molds from customers who never went through with manufacturing or decided not to use them, and that makes startup cheaper. They simply add the OEM name after manufacturing.

I don't know if that's the case here, but the clubs look very much like older designs with a fresh coat of paint. Nothing wrong with that, it's a typical business model and the clubs may play very well. The shaft is what usually sets clubs apart.

The iron lofts are very strong.

He really got his start doing custom paint jobs to clubs and shafts - like customizing a car.

The drivers run about US$500 retail in Japan.

well im getting my custom blade set next week.
i asked where they were forged and got an ultra confusing answer. that i stil ldont understand
i believe they are s25c and as far as i cud make out they are not made at kyoei nor endo.
they are a delightful feel and the look at address is just magnificent i hit 3 balls , thats it , and ordered a set on the spot

as for his putters, my blade putter will be ready next friday they are either hand made,or are machine milled HUGE price differnce and he is one of only 3 genuine handmade puttermakers in japan, the obv other one is yamada san,, the third chap, i dont know him......................yet

he makes putters for a lot of tour palyers from what i was told.
doesnt have a big range but will work with you if uwant a custom hand made one.

ive rolled about 5-6 of his and well ,yea they are pretty darn impressive.enough to have me buy one

I don't think three years equals "long established."

Show something to support the claim that Masda manufactures clubs and shafts.

I have nothing against Mr. Masuda, but I think there's been a language mistake or misunderstanding.
well u might be right BUT......
i had a 30 min meeting with the masda sales guy today ,and spoke to masda san directly

iasked where they were made.

ahhhhhhhhhhh this is difficult
they are not made in china ,they have absolutely nothing to do with geotech what so ever. that im 1005 sure of. (or so he says)
they are made in japan
at.......... masda, his own place.
i specically asked what foundry are they forged at , and he said they are mde in house

not tada, miura, endo, kyoei.

it appears he makes his own or his family has a foundry of some description.

the irons are very nice.
ive ordered a set , regardless of where they are made, they are quite lovely.

What's the reasoning? Just curious!
I tried lofting up. It hits some awesome shots..problem is I am usually playing in 10-15 mph winds, with 30 mph gusts being normal. With the wind it's kick @$$. Against the wind...I'm not good enough to hit knockdown stingers with a driver consistently.

Hi tsupo,

Did you go to their place in Chiba?
I'd like to see your irons when you get them.
You want to play some day, please send me a PM.

no just spoke to him on the phone bec the sales agent has a bit of history of messing things ups, he got my putter completly wrong, so i had to reorder that . i spoke to him directly, they dont like u doing that. but seeing he stuffed upa 60k putter. i figureed it best

decided on a set of NS 2g18s for t the irons .

yeah to own all factories and make all your own shafts, heads, etc....usually a co works up to that not start off with it.....very few people at all do all the work in any industry....i tend to believe geotech or kyeoi makes it to his specs....either way it looks nice but not phenomenal and to start off with miura pricing will be tough without any history.....now to price it at geotechs list and work your way up i could see......

 • 3 weeks later...

2 rounds into these now.
shafted them with 115 gram Xflex NS protos
mix of high flight shafts and low launch heads gives me a very good distance drop stop flight.
extremely good for distance control and accuracy.

heads look the best of any head ive ever seen at address, a bit flatter than usual, and a bit thicker top line.
impact is great. and the finish is really every good. no marks at all on the soles , and they are full chrome.

selling some other blades now, these have leapfrogged a bunch very quickly.
they seem very good clubs

very informative post. thanks for that. We are planning on adding more JDM clubs to our website. Could you recommend some popular brands you noticed in Japan? We are in talks with Crazy Shafts and other lesser known brands in the US.

Thanks!

well, these are my gamers by miles now , got 3 sets, ns modus 3 120x for the windy links i play a lot.
the NS stx , high smooth and light. and going to pop some aerotech 110x into the other set, im swapping out the c-tapers, which are just utter utter crap. fk knows why these get a look in they are toilet, the differnce between these other 2 sets is just rediuclous. the c-tapers fee like someone is chipping away at yr elbow bone on every stirke!
dreadfull stuff.
the aerotechs , from what i tested out on wekeend are a fantastic match. bit dull and lifeless, but the flight is aboslutely spot on. mid arc flight ,utlra tight and very good distance.

the modus 120 are just close to perfect in wind, the flight is very low, but the ball bites on impact. even with the low irons, the modus and c-tapers were sposed to be in a contest to see which was staying ,but there was NO contest. ctapers out!
maybe ive a too slow SS to make these work, i just dont get the buzz on them
the more i hit aerotechs, the more i like thier play, and they are very easy on the joints. just a bit dull

looks like the MCI might get a look in soon.. those or the new modus 125s instead of the ST which i found a bit flighty. prefer a stronger flight.

as for the heads. if u like a chunkier blade with a soft but dense feel and some real substance to it these are really really good blades.

Anyone know if they'll sell the MB's without the mirror finish like the one in the photo? That mirror finish looks quite bright.

Last I checked a couple of months ago, yes. This is not a raw finish like the Yururis, but rather a plating so I backed out not knowing how it would affect feel. Also, the wait was even longer!
How long was the quoted wait time? Numerous reliable sources have told me that these irons take the cake. It sounds almost undisputed. The users are passionate. As far as looks go they're the best looking MB in my eyes but I'd like to hear more about that 9" hosel from users. It looks cob pipe long.
