I have the Aldila RIP Phenom 60 in my current driver. After try a dozen different shafts this one gave me more consistency. I tried the Phenom NL series but; the flight was low and bend point to high for my swing speed. I take it by your screen name you gotta have a swing speed 105+ ?

The NL to me is the Phenom performance but better feel. The butt feels lighter and feels like I can get through faster. Phenom is heavy in the hands. NL is still super tip stiff though, so there is a bit of a boardy feel. Great shaft though. If you like the Phenom, try the NL. I think the Phenom and the NL are good pairing options for people that play the C-Taper.

I owned a Phenom NL for a brief period and it was very stout. I've played a TON of different shafts over the last couple years and the Phenom NL was by far the most stout and tip stiff of anything I've ever played. I play (or played) RIP alpha 70/80/90 in x flex and absolutely loved them but the Phenom is a different beast.

That's not to say it's a bad shaft but it's definitely not for everyone, it's probably one of the lowest spinning shafts out on the market so I imagine a lot of people (myself included) don't spin it enough to optimize it. The tip was very stiff, I felt like I really had to work to get it out to even close

I'd definitely recommend hitting it before you buy it and be careful with the tipping.

Awesome shaft if you like Low Spin/Low Launch shafts...

Probably the best Low/Low I ever hit....

Put it in a SuperDeep and set about decapitating groundhogs.

Called her SuperNasty.... She was a true skank.... Someone else has her now... And the last I heard... He was still with her...

On a serious note...

If you have the swing for it.... It's truly a great shaft... If you don't.... It's a setup that will frustrate you... I don't have the swing for LowLaunch stuff so putting a Low/Low Combo together with a Low/Low head was very stupid on my part.... However, it felt SOOOOOOO good when I did manage to nut one... It went for DAYS....

She sounds like my kind of girl.....

I just bought a G25 and this shaft is at the top of the list for me. I was hitting a 9.5 head set to 9.0 with a stock tour x shaft and I liked it enough to buy one. I couldn't believe how easy it was to hit straight. The stock shaft was launching too high and the spin was also pretty high. Typically between 3000-3500. Ballooned quite a bit on me.

Now I know my swing doesn't help with the spin, but I am hoping the 8.5 head I bought paired with a shaft like this will produce a better ball flight that won't balloon on me. Just hoping it doesn't feel like a brick

I just ordered a 60 TX to try in my old 910d3 head just for giggles. I don't think it can possibility beat out my MP 650 though.

Old thread, I know. But I'd rather not get scolded for not knowing how to use the search function.

I just got one of these to put in my BBA 815 DBD. Right now I have the Matrix 75M4 Black Tie X. I went for the NL in 60TX because I wanted a low/low shaft that was a little bit lighter and I hope I've stumbled across a gem in the Phenom NL. I play my driver at 44.5" typically.

I wanted to inquire about the swingweight. Does anyone have any experience with the weight distribution of the Phenom NL? Cut to the same length as my Black Tie, with the same adapter and grip, does the NL figure to alter swingweight any compared to the Black Tie?

Thanks!

How does it compare to the Matrix? I just bought a 70 TX Phenom NL for $50 for my M1. Hopping it's a bomber like everyone says!

I alternate between a 80TX NL off a tour van and a Grafalloy Blue X, both tipped about an inch IIRC. The NL is a stout shaft without a doubt. I use the Blue for distance and the NL when I want to hit it straight(er). I do lose a little distance with the NL, but I also tend not to swing as hard with it and I play it an inch shorter by design. The NL is the most accurate shaft I have used so far. The only downside? The graphics. The paint fade looks really nice, but the graphics are puke worthy. It does perform though so I try to ignore them.
