Tiger's style at the Open

Recommended Posts

Can't believe what I just saw....

1) He is still wearing that mock turtleneck with a vest look from 10 years ago. Nike, please help this guy.

2) Most outrageous is that he took that same compression mock turtleneck out to the range and chipping area and took the vest off and wore just the compression shirt tucked in to work on his game. He may have the worst fashion sense on tour.

Maybe if he pairs it with some joggers it will look more current. It's supposed to be cold there today so likely a compression shirt, I highly doubt he's wearing 10 year old clothes.

I try not to have a funny look on my face when I see guys show up to the course wearing the mock shirts.

All I can ask myself is, "Where is your collared shirt?". I admit to be somewhat "old-school" with regards to golf fashion. I respect that Tiger was so great that he could redefine golf fashion by wearing something to the course. The man could refuse to wear pants to a PGA Tour event and I wouldn't be surprised if they let it go.

TIger can wear whatever he wants. He's Tiger.

You couldn't care less, because if you could you would. Back to your regularly scheduled program.

I would look the same way at a guy with a turtleneck and no polo as well.

Just not a look I MYSELF would wear to a golf course. Trust me, if a golf course allow jeans and a tshirt, by all means wear jeans a t shirt. But that doesn't mean I think it is right and I definitely would never wear it myself. If someone asked I would tell them what I thought, but if they don't ask then I keep it to myself.

Exactly Taylor.

It's 2015, not 1815. You don't see anyone wearing plus four's do you? no because the times have changed. I think Tiger looks good in it, he's an athlete prepping for his sport on the biggest stage.

I bet you hated seeing him wearing earphones at this years Masters didn't you?

Come on

if you had this physique you'd be rocking this base layer too

Honeybadger don't care. He has the physique to pull it off. The cold and wet conditions in Scotland can also make it practical. That said, Tiger has never been a follower of fashion trends. In contrast, he sets them. If Tiger rocks it, the masses will follow suit. His sponsors might appreciate a few more logos though.

I will pretend like I didn't read that.

Ok, close the topic. This will end up being all the Tiger lovers defending his every action and all the Tiger haters killing him on everything. Don't want that. Just wanted to talk about gym wear being worn at the Old Course. No big deal.

I thought it was established long time ago that turtleneck is a type of collar. Regarding term polo: per Wikipedia "The term polo neck, common in British English...".

Semantics my friend, I am not arguing whether it is a collar or what have you. I expressed my opinion on it and that is all.

That is fine, but I think Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus are also quite "old-school", and I bet they would be allowed to play in all/most country clubs with their garments.

Okay.
