Callaway ix

Just wanted to get some feed back on this ball. I've played about five rounds with this ball and I think I love it. Durability is great, distance is great, and spin around the greens is great. I think its the best ball I've ever played. It was hard to get away from the Titleist name though, I was prov1x. I don't think I'll go back. I really want to know what everyone thinks, cause I don't have all day to test out every ball. I have a high swing speed with the driver, but not too steep of an angle. Prob 115 to 120mph. Let me know what you guys think.

I thought is was not nearly as the ProV1 I normally play. Distance was good and so was the spin but to me it just has a very "clicky" feel.

I have been a prov1x player ever since its inception, but I honestly believe that the Cally tour ix performs better for me. I also tried both bridgestones, and both nikes, with nothing beating the ix. If this makes any sense at all, I feel like the ix is heavier. Instead of spinning and floating which sometimes happens with the v1x, the ix goes up and just falls out of the sky without overspinning and floating in the wind with the irons. I really feel like I can work the ix without fear of overworking and moving the ball across my target. It also really gets some velocity off the face of a driver. I do like the prov1x around the greens a little better because I feel like I have better spin control with that ball, but the overall performance of the tour ix I believe beats out the v1x. I really encourage anyone with higher swing speeds to give this ball a try. Its truly a good ball.

I think the ix is targeted at the ProV1x player and not the Pro V1 player like yourself. I think you just have to wait for the tour i to get the better feel with similar performance.

I'm waiting for the Tour i, hoping it is "the ball" for me.

I have a touri practice ball from the Riviera range. Ball is super soft, the cover shredded on every full wedge shot.

I have been playing the V1x for sometime now.... The iX and Red LDP are the two balls I'm going to give a try this year, hoping for a bit less spin and a little better performance in the wind. So far the reviews on both sound very good!

I picked up a sample of the Tour iX Ball today and hit some partial wedges side by side with it, ProV1 and HX Tour 56 -- it spun just as well as the others on partials -- impressive. All three braked the same distance.

I am sort of mixed on this ball as well. I agree that the durability is a great feature. It is nice to hit a full wedge and not have big shred taken out of the ball. Around the green it doesn't have the bite the V1 seems to have with my 58. To me that is a major setback.

The driver distance doesn't seem to a big difference. Maybe a little longer.

Did you ever post up those custom wedge pics for me sak :clapping: ? BTW please send me over a sleeve so I can do some testing against the TM LDP's hehe

Shaggy, for as much as you're on this board, I'm shocked that you missed this thread...

Here's the deal my friend, PM me your address and I'll send you a sleeve of the HX Tour ix's AND HX Tour i's if you write a detailed review about them. It can't get any easier than that.

My only requirement is that it has to be done BEFORE the last day of the Masters (Sunday, April 13).

Are you down for the challenge???

Also, please don't inform my employer the total number of hours each day I spend on this forum :clapping:. Honestly I'm not quite sure how I'd manage to make it through the work day without being able to read/post on WRX.

No worries, they already contacted me and wanted to inform you not to report to work on Monday. Looks like more 'quality' time for a review...

i feel almost the exact same way. i have a driver swing speed just under 100, and the low driver spin is great. this is probably the longest ball i've played, in terms of rollout. this part of the ball is better than the pro-v1. however, i still think the pro-v1 still spins more around the green. but it is still very visible as to how much it will potentially spin. i think callaway's commercial is pretty honest to some other commercials (not neccesarily golf, but in general). lol. i was also hesitant about moving away from the titleist name but all in all, i'm a fan of them...
