I tried to send you a PM from your WTB ad but your inbox is full. Send me a PM. Have a brand new 5.5 for you. Personally I think its the best high moi mallet out there I liked it so much I bought 2. The ball rolls the same no matter where on the face you hit it and it feels great. I also like the alignment. My gamer is out getting refinished in copper but I dont really need a brand new backup.

I guess I did not realize it has toe hang. Have never gamed one, but rolled it in the store and it was nice. I have a slight arc and I can’t do a straight back, straight through stroke. When I try to force it, I tend to pull the putt. A slight arc putter is always better for me.

Why did this putter draw hate? I don’t love all the visible lines. I like the overall look. I thought it fit my stroke pretty well and I have never owned a Scotty Cameron.

no more thoughts on this putter?

I actually hit one today. I didn't realize what it was until i compared it to the 7m. I much prefer the half neck. face balanced putters tend to make me want to miss left and this didn't have quite that tendency. it's very hard to find a mallet that lines up correct to my eye. ( i usually prefer plumber neck blades). This felt pretty natural to me. I will probably be picking one up for what it's worth. It's easily my favorite in the futura lineup. To be honest i am not a huge scotty fan and the rest of the line i just don't really like that much. so that says something

It got a lot of hate, because Scotty basically marketed it as a "inspired by Justin Thomas" model. Now if you actually look at Thomas' putter and the 5.5m there are major differences (no flow neck, head slightly different).

I agree, I think the only reason it drew hate was because they went up and down about how it was a JT putter but it wasn't. They used a heel shafted Futura 5s head instead of Justin's Futura x5, and used a shorter single bend shaft to simulate the flow neck instead of actually doing it. The 5.5M also has the wrap around aluminum face insert, where Justin's is a solid SS head (although I think people are getting fed up with the aluminum face insert on Scotty putters in general, not just specific to this putter). When it all boils down to it, the mechanics of the stroke and head are the same. It works just like the original was, and if it didn't have an insert, if you closed your eyes and swung them both side by side you wouldn't feel much of a difference in stroke. It is definitely a better overall option that the other flow mallets on the market (e.g. TM tour spider, odyssey 7s). I however, just prefer the original welded flow neck x5, and will be having one built. This option, however, is going to cost about twice as much as buying a new 5.5M, so you gotta weigh your options!

p.s. I just realized that the Scotty community is a bit hypocritical, because the "Inspired by Jordan Spieth" model putter was essentially just a 2014 select Newport 1 with like an "Aztec Gold" type finish. Not even close to Spieth's black ox, carbon 009. The putter originally retailed for $900 and was selling on the secondary market for almost twice that. Not a peep out of anyone about how different the putters were. Obviously there's a difference between modeling an OTR putter off of a one off built for JT, and a limited edition putter inspired by a semi-readily available 009, but still.

Functionally it’s the same as JTs. I love the putter and as soon as my Bettie misbehaves I’ll pick one up to tinker around with.

People hate on it because it doesn’t have the cool slant neck where as other companies have theirs. Other companies have to do cool things to promote sales but Scotty has such a strong brand he doesn’t care.

From an operations stand point it’s cheaper to use a different shaft then produce a whole new head. How does Scotty know that this model will take off? He doesn’t so why invest a ton of money into tooling and inventory when he can make a functionally similar putter.

I think if this one does prove popular that at the very least we will see more Scotty putters with different neck options. And of course then everyone else would likely get on that wagon.

With all of the new putting styles and different grip types becoming more main stream manufacturers are going to have to adapt to this with more versatility. Especially with a lot of these new putting styles trying to create a SBST stroke.

I know it got a lot of hate, but at the end of the day, it is finally a mallet with some toe hang so it can't be that bad. Anyone have experience with this putter yet?

Ummmmm,,,,,,, wouldn't the rarity be a Scotty putter that's face balanced ???

Yup....the reason I have never had a Scotty until now. My new one has what Scotty calls "minimal" toe hang so I guess I will see how that works out now.

I have debated on getting a 5.5m for a while and haven't pulled the trigger. Here's my reason why....the toe hang is nearly identical to the toe hang of a 2012-2014 Golo (original and 5/7). The golo's are a solid stainless head rather than a 2 piece, so they give a better feel IMO. So unless you REALLY love the alignment/look of the 5.5m, you are basically paying an extra $100+ for a 2pc head rather than a 1pc head in the golo. Technically the MOI is higher on the 5.5m, but I wouldn't think by very much.

So in a nut shell, I don't think the 5.5m is a superior product.

I had a 2014 GoLo 5 but my gamer is a Futura 5.5m. I randomly rolled the 5.5m at a store and ended up going home with it. I guess I would probably be in the minority, but I like the feel/sound of the 5.5m a lot better.

I wouldn't say superior...I would just say different. They are both great flatsticks.
