Cobra F7 Hybrid vs. F6 Baffler

Recommended Posts

Hi I am looking at these two clubs and wanted to if someone actually hit both of them.

It would be really difficult for me to actually try them in person before I buy them so I wanted to get as much information as I can.

I understand that one is hybrid and one is fairway wood, but I was just curious.

Thank you in advance.

As a 10 cap who fights launch issues the Baffler F6 was a nonstarter for me. It’s based on the bio cell + frame. Low snap hooks for me.

I play both. Love both. The hybrid is stupid easy to hit from any lie. If I were to pick one, I would get the hybrid. It is easier to hit and more forgiving.

I like the hybrid in lofts 20* and up, and the baffler below. Honestly the hybrid is still really good at 17-19, but I couldn't get it to launcha s well as the baffler. It's hard for me to imagine a bag without a baffler in it, but I could play a lot of different hybrids. I just upgraded to the F8+ 4w and it is really sweet. You can get an F6 for $70, or the F8+ from Cobra for $170. Can't go wrong with either of your options honestly.

Both are good clubs. Do you generally prefer to hit hybrids or fairways?

As others have stated, the hybrid is probably a little easier to hit and is a little bit better hitting out of bad lies, but the baffler is still able to handle that sort of stuff as good or better than any other fairway wood out there. I've heard it described as a "large hybrid", but in my experience, it would be more accurate to say that it's a "small fairway" with the way it actually performs. I don't think it plays like a hybrid at all.

In my hands, the F6 baffler was longer and straighter-I had a tendency to snap-hook the hybrid. If you like hitting hybrids, the F7 will serve you well. If you prefer fairways, I think the F6 baffler would be a better choice.

I have bot the 2-3 and the 3-4 hybrid. If I play the 3-4 at 19* it was hook city. I got the 2-3 and hit it straight as an arrow at 19. the 3-4 set at 22 was dead straight too. If you play the hybrids at their higher lofts it opens up the face and negates some of the hooking tendencies.

I just bought the f6 baffler 4/5w, Tuesday, to replace my ping g400 19* hybrid. The g400 doesn't fly the way it did on the simulator as it does on the range and course. Big ol' hook on the course. For $70 it's not much of a gamble on the f6, even if I do need to find a new shaft for it.

I hit the G400 hybrid and hated it. To me it doesn't compare to the Cobra offerings.

Yeah I wish I would have been able to hit it on the range before I bought it. I don't know what it is about it but we don't see eye to eye. I always hit my fairway woods real well, so I expect the f6 to be the same.

Adding loft closes the face on cobra hybrids.

Your results are opposite what one should expect. My guess is at the lower loft you were not creating enough launch and spin. Same reason everyone duck hooked the SLDR driver. Too low a loft and spin. Add loft and the ball stays in the air.

I’ve tried the F6 and the F7. I have an F8. I think the rails on the F7 and F8 make them easier to hit especially in the rough. I also found them longer than the F6.

Learn something new every day. I always thought adding loft opened the club face. It is weird because I am a high ball hitter and never had an issue with launch. The ball just went left.

I play the baffler at 16 and the f7 hybrid at 19.5

Great complement to each other in that set up. I think the baffler is a big big to play as a hybrid. And I've thought abt gaming one at 19*

... I installed a heavier and shorter shaft in my F6 and it is a cross between a hybrid and a fairway wood, but closer to a hybrid. It fits right between my 20* UDi and my 16* F8 fairway wood. Excellent from the rough, which is usually the only place I play it.

I have both. Ive never got along great with the hybrid, not sure if its the shaft or what. But I love my baffler. For my game though I see two different uses and distance coverage for these two clubs, so I guess it really depends what you are trying to do. At the end of the day, even as small as the baffler is, I think you are getting more flexibility out of the hybrid so might be the best option.
