Taylormade M6 Weight - Bit Size?

jasonp87jasonp87 Advanced Members Posts: 2,090 ✭✭
So i Just got my m6 and it obly weighs 193grams (with the **** in head)

I like my drivers around 198 to 201 grams depending on the shaft.

I plan on hot melting a few grams but only 2 to 3.(dunno where best place is to get into the head for 1)

2ndly if i want a heavier weight i need to remove the current one which appears to be a security torx bit. Does anyone know the size (i have torx bits but not security ones so ill need to buy one unless someone has a solution for me to defeat the little pin in the middle of the bit)

Lastly do the M4 aftermarket weights fit. Amazon sells weights marketed for m4s wondering if these will work to make up the remaining weight.

Thanks.

To recap

1) what size security bit is the m6 weight? Or any ways to defeat the security pin?

2) best way to get hotmelt in this head

3) do m4 weights fit?

    1. any club "adjustment wrench" should remove that weight **** (edit: nvm - idk about the security pin)

    2. the hot melt port is the hole where the weight screws in

    3. they look like they would, but I am not sure. Billy Bob's Golf has M4 weights that you could try.

Not sure on the newer models.....In the past (RBZ models) Taylormade used a Torx

T-20 sized security bit. The standard Torque wrench is T-25 .

I have seen a couple weights that the owner had broken the pin off with a small

flat head screwdriver , to make a regular T-20 ( non security ) fit.....

    TEE EX9 22* / Attas 4U 7-S.
    TEE EX9 25* / Attas 4U 7-X
I have added about 10 grams of weight to all the fwy / hybrid
shafts , using Sensicore inserts wrapped with lead tape.

    Cobra Forged Tec Black / 28* 6 iron thru 49.5* GW / 4.5* gapping

I have this same question, but was just going to slap some lead tape on the bottom of the head!

Someone in the M5/6 thread said it's identical to the m4 weight. According to billbobs its a T25 security bit, if you buy the weight from them they include the bit. The screws are secured with loctite so you will need to heat it up a bit

It's actually the same as a 2016 M2. Had to add weight to a M$ and pulled the original (3gr) and only had 6 gr M2 weight that fit perfectly! Golfworks carries the replacement weights as well and it is a torx security bit. As mentioned earlier you can break the nipple off and use a std torx bit. Hope this helps. And as far as heat goes, maybe or maybe not. I didn't have to use heat on the M4. RBZ weights will fit as well

T20 security bit, weight does have blue thread locker on it so a lil heat required. M4 weights fit, my stock weight was 3.7 grams

This is 100% accurate. However i required no heat. They used so little threadlocker it was easy to break.

    Mine was also 3.7grams exactly.

Ive ordered m4 7gram and 9gram weighta from amazon.

Per billybobs all their m4 weights fit in the m6 except the 10gram weight because its a touch long.

If you still need more weight that's fine - but you realize that the weight of the adapter needs to be included as part of the head weight? So add ~6 gm to that 193 value.

The rbz weights fits fine and just use a t20 bit if you would like. If you go that route you’ll have to break the little nipple in the middle in which is really easy.

Then at 3/4" short, C9 sounds about right for what you should expect. TM does not do any compensation for swing weight when you do custom length changes.
