Club Fitter

Looking for a club fitter in the Winston, Greensboro, Raleigh or Charlotte area. In other words I will travel for a very good experience. Not interested in Club Champion. Been down that route and although a good experience find they steer you towards expensive shafts ( for a financial reason). I’m a lefty so that creates a challenge with availability of most brands at one shop. Any suggestions?

Joel Iacovelli at Golf Etc. In Cary is your man. He works for a number of local touring pros. Can’t say enough about his integrity. He could have sold me a new set for $1000+ but said, before we put your old clubs on eBay let’s check their specs. That cost me $25. He does Mizuno, Miura, Calloway, Srixon, Bridgestone, among others. Website is www.golfetc.com.

If you go near the Charlotte area, Ken Husvar is as good as it gets. Also don't sleep on the golf academy at Pinehurst.

We do have that Club Champion too, over by bed bath and beyond and dicks. I know nothing about them though. Walked by there a few times, looked inside wishing I had more cash. Haha

Pardon me, I did not see this question until now. As a science experiment I had collected an assortment of Adams CB3 irons for about a year from Ebay, mostly single club purchases. Took them to Joel and he selected the best heads of the collection for a set of irons 6 - GW. He patiently fit me for shafts (KBS Tour 105, stiff) and then built my irons. The fitted set has provided me with confidence over the ball and I'm glad I did it.

Not speaking from my experience, but from my buddy who just had an iron fitting there, avoid them. Almost everything he told me the fitter said was suspect at best. And when he didn’t anything, they weren’t too happy. I do feel he got fit to the correct shaft, so that was good, but getting there (to the correct shaft) and the communication afterwards was not pleasant. For second hand knowledge, not a place I would recommend.
