Distance Wedge?

Is there such a thing? My PW 45* goes 140 yards and my GW 50* goes 120 yards. I can't seem to find any wedge to fill the gap.

Is there such thing as distance wedge? I've tried so many different 50* wedges including CBX, CBX2 many blade wedges. Currently using RTX4

Play it at 49*? Is this from closed/normalizes data on a launch monitor or from your assumptions based on anecdotal experience? How far does your SW go? If you get 5 more yards out of the GW now you have a weird gap between the sand wedge possibly... and so on.

Is there a set GW that is available for your irons? I generally find the set gap wedges are always a little hotter than a Cleveland, Vokey, etc dedicated wedge.

Unfortunately, no.

Not that it matters, but both on trackman and on course measurements with GPS and laser. I hit my 58* 95, 54* 110. I much rather mange distance gap between 54* and 50*. I tend to be more accurate with GW vs PW.

Me personally I would get an iron set whose PW has a loft of 47-48d and with a matching 52d gap wedge. Today's player's CB and blades would fit that criteria and older GI and SGI irons that were made before the OEMs jacked up the lofts.

You likely spin the legit wedge more than the set PW, thus creating more of a gap. This has been something I've been pointing out for years with all the juiced up lofts and lower spin heads being produced so that people can hit 170y PW, errr 7 i's... You'll likely have to play odd lofted wedges to close the gap rather than a 'normal' 4-5 degree gap. Not really that big a thing as your highest lofted wedges are for under 100y (generalization, I know...) and more of a specialty shot than full swing yardage clubs.

I am not familiar with the irons listed in your signature, but I would try to find a similar set to yours that does have a matching gap wedge and see if you can get the gap wedge seperately. I was using a Titleist 50 degree wedge in place of my G wedge that came with my JPX-900 forged irons. When I went in to mess around on the simulator, I brought both and found that my matching G wedge was a better fit between my pitching wedge and 54 than that Titleist was.

You've got room for one more club (based on your sig) so get something that goes 130. Either that or learn to hit that 3/4 PW.

YMMV, but I found the Ping Glide 3.0s to be a touch longer than the RTX 4s and SM7s I tested them against, though we’re talking maybe 4-5 yards, not enough to close the gap you’re talking about. I ran into the same issue with gapping that you’re having (but less extreme), so my bag goes from a set wedge at 45* to an SM7 at 48*.

I suspect your 50 is more like a 51 or 52. Have you had them checked? You have a 15yd gap from 58 to 54, then only 10yds from 54 to 50 and finally a 20yd gap from 50 to 45. Either the 50 is actually weak or you are delivering too much loft with it for some reason??

Loft/Lie check would be my first stop.
