Nike ONE Tour D vs. Titleist NXT Tour

Durability issue...
I did a little work for Nike a few weeks ago and was given a dozen Nike Tour D's as I walked out the door. I usually play NXT Tour's and found that the Nike's were very comparable.

My only issue was that I am absolutely SHREDDING them with my wedges and short irons. Is this typical with the Nike Tour D's? Are the "NEW" NXT Tour's more/less durable than last years offering?

Thought's?

Is there a better 3 piece ball than these two?

Ok, first things first..

...THEY ARE BOTH 3 PIECE BALLS.

Just because Nike calls them "Tour" doesn't make them "Tour caliber". Name one PGA pro that plays a three piece.

Second things second. The only difference is that the Nike has a Urethane cover, while the Titleist has a Fusablend cover.

Hence the "durability issue".

Congrats, you have a swing speed of 110 mph. That's about the only knowledge you dropped on me with your reply.

i play the one tour d. i think they are pretty durable when compared to other premium balls, more so than the prov1 and x for sure. i would consider the tour D a premium ball for sure though. i can back up full wedge shots with no problem, and greenside spin is surprisingly adequate

all premium balls are gonna scuff on all full wedge shots if hit properly, it's just the way it goes

The ProV1 is a 3 piece ball and it's played plenty of tour. The Tour D is definitely a tour caliber ball.

The NXT will be more durable but with significantly less spin around the green. The distance between the two should be comparable.

Actually, Stewart Cink plays the Tour D, a three piece.
Also, Tim Clark and Robert Allenby. There are bunches more but I don't feel like looking it up, but a few 3-piece balls with play on tour:

Z-Star
ProV1
Tour D

You can't compare the durability of these 2 balls. Of course the Nike ONE Tour D is not as durable because it is made of a softer higher spinning cover. It is funny cause the old saying you get what you pay for completely applies to golf balls but not durability. The better balls (for me) cost more and tear up but I just can't seem to spin not tour balls. Yeah they hold greens but I can't play low spinners to back pins nor spin a ball back off a ridge, around the greens I get no initial bite, ect... So yeah the cover tears up on the Nike ONE Tour D as well as all other premium balls on the market. If you don't mind giving up the spin around the green or if you get enough spin from your current ball then don't buy the premium balls and you won't tear them up.

"Name one tour player that plays a 3-piece?" You're kidding right? Most pro's play a 3-piece (although the ProV1X is a 4-piece, and the new T/M Penta is a 5-piece). Stewart Cink for one plays the tour D (and won the British Open last year with it). For me the NXT Tour is less durable than the ProV1X. Essentially the NXT is a type of Surlyn and after hitting a full wedge I typically have cover bits stuch in my grooves. The Urethane balls may scrape a bit but for me are more durable.
