What is/was the most used graphite shaft on the PGA Tour in 2010

Recommended Posts

Which manufacturer/model driver shaft was most often put into play on the PGA Tour in 2010 ... ( most used model on tour )???

Note that a model would be YS-6, NV-65, and the like.<--(examples, not suggestions/options as these are old)

I'll plump for the GDI YS-Series shafts. I know they've been right up there for a while in terms of pure numbers of shafts being played.

The YS-6 or YS-7 would be my guess.

YS-6. Yes. I'll go for the YS-6.

My estimation would be that since the Diamana Blueboard shows up in 63, 73 and 83 in different drivers, that would split the count on that shaft. If you narrow it to one particular model, I have to wonder if the 757 still has 15 or so users each week, which would probably be enough to get that title.

I was under the impression hd6 was the most used individual model.

It's not drivers, but I'd be willing to bet that Aldila take the hybrid shafts title.

I wouldn't use one as an alignment marker myself, but every man and his dog seems to have a NV-shafted hybrid in play out on the tours.

I also thought I remember the HD6 was most single driver shaft, NV 85x was most used Hybrid. Don't forget about Graffalloy ProLite, they are VERY popular!

If we're talking about driver shafts, I think it might be WB? But the 757 guess might be pretty good, too - it wouldn't take too many to be #1 when you're just talking about specific models. Plus, it can get difficult to even know what with the TM guys all having to have the TM paint scheme and whatnot - and it's not like there are just a couple of TM drivers out there, you know?

Probably Aldila - I'll go for the RIP 70 X - even though I have no idea who's using one.

Im pretty sure Fujikura has been holding down the driver count for quite some time but aldila is right on thier heels because they count hybrids in the fairway wood count and they always beat fuji out there.

Part of what makes it so unpredictable is that there are 250 or so players that can potentially factor in to the count, and there are about 75 to 100 different models (if not more) that are in the mix in any given week. The amazing statistic is that it only takes a handful of players to be the number one model week in and week out.

The take home for players should be that there is a huge variety of bend profiles out there to choose from, and some are better for a given player than others. Everyone should be trying to find a shaft that fits them, not trying to fit themselves to a shaft or a brand.

Wow, on the Titleist fitting chart, that is one of the lowest launching, lowest spinning shafts available. What should we learn from that?

Do the Tour Players go a different direction with their FW Metal shafts?

Very interesting find Asleep!

Thanks,
Kevin

IMO - high trajectory is more influenced by conditions then low trajectory, and tour players, even better amateurs don't need the extra few yards that results from high launching shafts. "Yes" they go with a higher trajectory shafts in woods. Also tour players are just like regular golfers... they will try shafts because of what's bantered about.

I suggest pay attention to those tour players that do not regularly fall victim to changing equipment; they are the one's in the money.

Crikey.

Imagine when they all find their way into the hands of Johnny Amateur or end up on eBay. The computer keyboard at Matrix Towers will be red hot with all those emails accusing people of theft or handling stolen goods that'll be knocked out.
