Scor Vs Hopkins Vs Vokey SM5

I'm thinking about grabbing a gap wedge for my set. Trying to fill the gap between my AP2 47 degree PW and my 54 degree Vokey SM4 sand wedge.

This one will be mostly for full shots from about 110 yards.

I've got a 7degree gap to fill between the PW and SW. Hopkins and Titleist offer only 50 and 52 degree in this range. Scor offered their wedges in one degree increments so I can get a 51 degree.

My other option is to pull my 54 degree Vokey and pull out my 56 degree Top Flite Tour and fill the gap with a 52 degree Vokey SM5

I am leaning towards the Scor wedge simply for the loft options.

I don't know much about the Scor or Hopkins wedges or how they feel and perform.

The Vokeys are familiar to me (I have 3 atm) so I'm wondering how the other 2 compare. Any opinions, thoughts and idea will be greatly appreciated.

The 56 in not currently in use. I got a good deal on the Vokeys (54 60 & 64) and it so happened to fill the gap on my old set which had a 49 degree gap wedge. The AP2 set leaves me with a big gap between PW (47 deg) and SW (54 deg). I am most likely going to fill it with a 50 or 51.

I am definitely keen on hearing opinions on Hopkins and Scor wedges and how they compare to the Vokeys. Especially since they are a little more expensive than the Vokeys

I've got the SCOR five club Scoring Irons(43°, 47°, 51°, 55° & 59°) that replaced my Mizzy MP-T 11's last fall, after I reviewed em for another site. The Only wedges that I've ever played were Staffs from 1967-96 and Mizzy from '97 through last fall.

Endy said it best- consistency, however the feel, especially in the 43° & 47° SCORs, which replaced my MP-68 9i & PW,, was startling.

However, as you have the Vokey, I don't know that I would mix different brands, especially scoring irons as critical as the wedges, from a weight, spec(other than loft) & feel standpoint, and though obviously guys do it, I don't recall ever playing with a Player who did it.

Also, you can bend the Vokey a few degrees, cast iron not withstanding, as my bro did this with his, and though it will slightly affect the bounce, you can hit it and see how it plays.

Which ever way that ya go, the very best to you & have a great season :)

Richard

Heard great things about Score wedges. Would make more sense to keep all the same that way it could eliminate a variable. I am playing a scratch set up I put together and will be taking a tip from Score and bending a 47* scratch to 44* and replacing my 9i as well. Not sure how it will work, but in theory it should help make things more consistent.

I liked my Scor wedges, but I found the leading edge a little too sharp. I'm going with something a little more rounded this year.

If you are mostly going to use it for full shots find whatever club (50 or 52) you are most comfortable and accurate in hitting that distance. I have the same problem and am thinking of getting a 50 degree because for me its more accurate to do a 3/4 swing and get the distance than having to really go for it with a 52 degree wedge
