Course Recommendation for Atlantic City in October

Recommended Posts

My buddy and I are spending the day in AC late this October. We wanted to get a round in before our concert that night. I am a 9 handicap, but he doesn't play very often. We wanted to play somewhere that was pretty nice, but not crazy expensive or crazy hard. I heard that Ballamor and Twisted Dunes are nice, and their rates are pretty good for that time of year. Any other suggestions?

I would check out golf now. A lot of the courses are on there. I have played several in the area. Bring bug spray.

I would recommend:

Blue Heron Pines

Seaview - Bay

Vineyards at Renault

McCullough's - Not as nice as above but pretty cool. All holes are replicas of a famous holes

Sea Oaks - Good condition. Pretty far out of the way
Would NOT recommend

Twisted Dune - Round took ~ 6 hours. Rocks in bunkers. A lot of dunes/natural areas

Green Tree

Harbor Pines - A lot of houses, not sure how wild your friend is. Good condition.

Links at Brigantine - Cops come if you hit a house and there are a lot of chances. Never played though.

Blue Heron Pines is a course that sort of sparked my curiosity. I have read reviews on here that say it is not a real demanding course, and the pictures online look pretty nice. Plus; they offer a $15 discount to you if you are staying at the Borgata (which we are). The only thing that I worry about are the conditions there. I saw that it is a Ron Jaworkski (sp.) course. I am wary of his courses because his management group bought one that is close to my house a couple years ago, and it has gone to absolute poop; conditions wise.

I haven't had a problem with the course conditions but I haven't played this season.

I would suggest Twisted Dunes. I happened to love the course when I played. I'd also suggest AC CC. I think in October you could probably get a good rate.

Twisted Dunes is definitely looking like where we will go. For $49 it seems hard to beat. AC CC is still a little steep ($110) for late October. I know that a lot of people complain about pace of play in AC, but hopefully it won't be that bad on an October morning.

Blue Heron Pines is usually in good shape, and so is Harbour Pines, which I don't recall being too difficult.

Sand Barrens is a great course as well, excellent shape and some interesting holes IMO. Lots of strategic play needed. Might be a little tough for your buddy due to waste areas, but worth looking into
