Callaway Chrome Soft Tour ball?

Is the Chrome Soft going to be Callaways major tour ball this year or are they going to release another with a little more compression? Thanks!

Rumor has it Callaway will have another version of the CS with 4 layers and a higher compression.

That's what I'm hearing. Chrome soft is like 65 compression and I'm hearing the other will be around 75-80.

As much as I am a fan of the CS, I'm pretty eager for the release of whatever they'll call this ball. Best ball I've ever played, leaves a little to be desired in fairway bunkers I've found. I always catch the ball solid, and it comes out a club short every time with just this ball.

I believe the new ball will be called chrome speed. It's already on the usga conforming list. I heard about this ball late last year but it was never released during the time scale I thought.

I think I will be sticking with the current CS. I think a four layered higher compression version sounds alot like a chrome plus or SR2.

[/quote]No idea but the chrome + wasn't released till 19th April 2013 so maybe there doing a late launch like that ball.

The chrome speed is on the usga conforming list in both white & yellow.

Yes I also read Chrome Speed by this summer. I wish they would consolidate their lineup a little, I hope that's what they're doing here. With the X2 line, the HEX line and the SR line the past couple years has been way too fast moving and confusing. I hope they go something like Warbird - Supersoft - Superhot - Chrome Soft - Chrome Speed. Just simplify it, less is more maybe. JMO

Agreed on that point for sure. I hope it comes out soon, the Titleist buy 3 get 4 comes out this week I think.

I don't know if things have changed, but my contact at Callway said last summer that the Chrome Speed was going to be the replacement for the Hex Chrome +. However, the Chrome + was selling so well, that they weren't sure if they were going to go through with the replacement. At the time, the Chrome + and Chrome Speed were essentially the same ball. Again, this information was back in the summer, so I don't know how relevant it is today.

That's what I'd heard, but then I heard they're keeping the Chrome+ completely as-is. Time will tell!

Last information I heard from the local rep (just after Thanksgiving) was the Chrome+ would stick around this year and the Chrome Speed was cancelled as there was just no need for it. The Chrome Speed would have been (ALLEGEDLY) a bit higher compression but still a 3 piece ball.

No need to compete with the SR series by making it 4 layer and undercut themselves.
