Callaway Players Distance Irons

Hey Guys,

 

I don’t know if anybody can answer this question.

 

Will Callaway make Player Distance Irons with a Clean appearance (like i500, P790) or will they look like the epic and rogue pros?

 

Don’t get me wrong, i think the rogue pro look not bad but I would love a iron which looks like the i500.

 

This is not about performance... love the performance of my rogue pros.

What exactly defines a players distance iron? Players irons are all about feel, feedback, and workability. While most of us will gladly welcome additional yards that is not the main purpose of blades/players cavity backs. I guess you could strengthen the lofts and adjust the lies to turn players irons into players distance irons...

Players distance iron are forgiving and long in a attractive shape..

Haven't heard any plans and they seem to be on a firm track with their 'cup face' technology so may not see the need for a hollow 'blade' variant. But you never know what the marketing folks will think is important enough to warrant a change in design strategy.

A high COR design. Typically from some type of thin face or variable face thickness tech. Which (BTW) isn't really contrary to what makes a players iron a players iron (head size, top line, offset, sole thickness, c.g. placement, etc..)

But can they design an iron with some of the qualities of a distance iron in a more compact

package? I like the marketing, but do not want a GI. Or SGI size of clubhead.

Can they? Probably.

 

Will they? If the Rogue Pro's or CF16's don't meet your particular standard for a "more compact design", I doubt it - but you never know.

Apex 16 pro should suit the bill

 

Or wait 6 weeks for the new Titleist concept blades

I could be wrong, but I don't think the Apex Pro's were a high cor design. At least they make no mention of the 'cup face technology' for those in the marketing.

Hmm .. I thought they were the same as the CF16. Every guy at my club picked up 15 yards per iron .. even 18 cappers. They are SOLID !!!!

Had the apex pro's, but I never warmed up to them. Never felt

comfortable, but I really enjoy the X Forged 18's. For me, they check all the boxes. Neither of these irons were cup face irons.

p790's, i500, AP2 (maybe), Apex combo set (maybe), Srixon 765 (or maybe 565), PXG 0311

I don't like the CF16 as much as the 2014 version. The CF16 at about the 6 iron starts to show the bulk behind the club at address. The 2014 model didn't do that.

I think they believe they already did, the epic pro's. If you haven't seen them in person, the photos don't really do them justice, they look as good as the PXG or 790's in real life, especially at address.
