I tried the 712mb and hit several shots heavey. I then read that the 712 and 714 leading edges were not Pre-Worn! I prefer the looks of the 716mb. My question is there a big difference in how they perform? Thanks.

Welcome to golfwrx .have played 710mb and for me leading edge caused no issues.716 and 718 are a softer forging and hence a great upgrade.

I play 718's and played the 716's last year...or was it the year before???...anyways I was fully capable of hitting a few heavy shots with each set :-)

I struggle to think that there would be a great difference, the soles of the majority of MB's are so narrow that they are never going to be the most forgiving through the ground.

Sole wouldn't be the primary factor in hitting it heavy.

Agreed, if you’re hitting several heavy shots MB’s aren’t for you

680's have the best sole with the 716 and 718 coming after..... Sole wasnt great on other models

When you say "the best sole", what does that mean?

 

I've pulled out my old Titleist Tour Models, and really like playing them -- which is making me want to try some modern blades, and I am torn between the 680s, 716s, and 718s -- but it is hard to know the difference.

 

My '85s have very narrow soles and wafer thin toplines -- which I like.

 

I'd love to hit them all side-by-side, but that is the challenge with buying used clubs....

680's have a pre-worn leading edge as do the 716's and 718's. However I think the 680's go thru the turf better. The 680's also feel a lot softer and yet still more solid. They also have the best head shape at address by far..... 680's are still loved by Adam Scott, Piercy, etc etc.... The pro's that are playing the 718's such as Justin Thomas are playing a no offset version that isnt available at retail....

Trust me if you can get a nice set of 680's you wont regret it.... It's the best Titleist blade to date.
