Best way to remove loose epoxy inside shaft without removing grip?

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to remove loose epoxy inside the shaft without removing the grip? I wonder if I can simply enlarge hole on the Ping ID8 grip butt to get loose epoxy out? Has anyone tried it?

If the chunk is small enough, I've gotten away with 3-4 slits in the grip cap, then jam a bic pen casing in and hope you can shake it through that...

I have this tool it works but it can also MANGLE the Butt Hole of a grip. It's not very easy to use.

Just use some solvent to get the tool into the grip. I've never once messed up a grip and I've used it for over 20 years. The hole goes right back to the way it was.

If you're dealing with a graphite shaft and the epoxy chunk is fairly narrow and small, I've gotten pieces out using needle nose pliers. Jam in the nose, open up the pliers as wide as you can without tearing the hole and shake the club a bit while upside down. It may help to put something between the pliers handle to hold them open while you do the shaking. There will likely be cursing and anger involved shortly thereafter. It's tricky.

 

After attempting this a couple of times over the years I finally bought a golfworks V groove grip removal tool. Works great. No more anger and cursing. Hold the club with the butt of the grip on the ground work the tool down into it adding a little solvent every couple of inches. Once all the way down add more solvent and work the tool all the way around the perimeter of the grip. Grip will slide right off. Make sure there isn't tape left in the grip before you reinstall it.

 

I do realize you asked how to do it without removing the grip,... but you should just remove the grip. The syringe method works also. I have both, but I like the tool for standard grips. Thicker putter grips I go with syringe.

I would wait until my next re-grip as I don't want to do anything that would cause moisture to get in the shaft. Can you hear or feel the loose epoxy when you swing?

I’ve used a pair of long nose pliers that I jammed into the grip hole, then forced them open while trying to grab the loose piece. It takes a bit of patience but can be done without damaging the grip.

Had a small piece years back that I found a way. Have a funnel, use some lube (WD40, etc), and work the end of the funnel into the grip hole. May need a little heat to soften it. After a couple of shakes the piece fell out. hope this might work for you.
