Hey gang,

I live in Colorado and was invited on a golf trip to Barefoot in March. I don't know anything about it. Anyone wants to provide any reviews or thoughts?

2 Great courses (love and dye), 1 good course (Fazio), and 1 meh course (Norman). Courses are typically in very good shape. Sounds like a good trip!

Its probably been 20 years since I was there but I REALLY liked the Love course. Lots of fun

Dye is probably the best course, but I would play the Dye & Love. I wouldn't play the Norman or Fazio.

Played the Dye course a few months ago.

Overpriced at the rack rate but worth a play if under 100$.

With so many great courses in the area (tidewater) it would be a shame to limit yourself to just the barefoot courses.

So most reviews and accounts I have read place the Fazio course at the top, but this thread says otherwise so far. I have a round booked for Fazio this summer but now I’m thinking I should change it to Love...?

All 4 BF courses are premium courses. If your group is playing all 4 it will be good. Fazio, Love, Dye take turns being someone's favorite. The golf mags tend to rate Love higher.

MB golf forum tends to rate Fazio higher. Dye is a good Dye course, depending if you love/hate Dye. Norman has some condo holes, but it also has several waterway holes and #10 is

one of the best par 3's in MB. Fazio, Love, Dye are top 10ish in MB. Norman about 2nd 10.

Fazio or Love is a toss up. Look at online photos and decide what looks more interesting.

Some may not like how Fazio has a lot of bunkers. Love has some holes with split fairways, giving you a choice and the ruins hole.

Fazio single tees, for possibly a faster round, especially if you are playing early.

Thanks guys! Like I said I am not planning the trip so don't have much control over itinerary. The plan is to play each course once over 4 days. That might leave room for afternoon rounds elsewhere so I will check out Tidewater. Any other good suggestions close by?

 

We are doing a golf/lodging package that seems like a great deal, especially if rack rates are north of$100.

Lodging off the beach with 4 in a condo in March has low lodging rates. Golf hits peak rates around mid March. There is a Barefoot book 3 get 1 free package, which you may have.

 

Tidewater is only about a 15 minute drive. Another premium option is Grande Dunes.

 

If you only want to replay 9 holes or keep the price down, a replay at Barefoot would be about 1/2 price and less than that for 9 holes. Ask in the pro shop.

The 4 course are well maintained. I have played Norman and Dye and both were great and would play them again. If you are a Dye course fan you will love it, if you are not it could be a long day as it isnt a easy course.

As others have said Dye and Love are the two better courses. Norman is medicore at best; and fazio is decent but not special. In gerneral Myrtle Beach is the Walmart of golf.

What about after golf at and around Barefoot? Pubs & restaurants.

There are lots of pubs/restaurants around Barefoot. In Barefoot landing, some are Normans, Wild Wing, LuLus, Umbertos, House of Blues,....

There is a pub at the BF driving range.

 

Nearby CA Dreaming, Longhorn,... A couple miles north, Thee Dollhouse.

I've played all four many times, although probably not as often as Art. There are many people who like Fazio the best so you may be pleasantly surprised. I agree with many of the posts that Love and Dye are the top two at Barefoot though. Norman has grown on me. I played it again last year after having skipped it for many years. It's a little less interesting than the other three because its flatter, the bunkering is less defined ,and some holes feel alike as several have bunkers that squeeze the fairways in the landing areas. However, there are a number of fun holes, including 9 and 10 pictured below. My group s had a good time even if it's not their favorite course at BF. With four pretty good courses one will always be at the end of a list. Feel free to check out the full photo tours at the links set forth below.

I would rank them Dye, Love, Fazio and Norman. In my opinion Dye is by far the best. Love and Fazio are close. Norman is lagging behind. They're all usually in good shape though.
