Private club Dues credit during shutdown.

Why would private clubs rebate anything? Kind of like when unforeseen weather causes damages, members split the bill.

F&B minimums sure, dues likely won't happen.

Only one place we belong to has an F&B minimum. They are doing pickup and delivery in our neighborhood. This is the first time we’ve been way ahead of it. It runs from September to August and we had already exceeded it in March. Normally we would be consciously thinking about it in July!

My home club back in MI has been doing delivery food also. Both finished meals and ingredients and recipe that you can make yourself. They typically put out the daily menu around noon and are all sold out by 1. They have also just reopened the course last weekend.

Another club I am a member at is more of a national club and they are not sure about opening this year yet. They have a date but are likely to push it back. They have asked the members to help chip in to pay all the employees their normal wage if the club doesn't open. I'm proud to help and happy that everyone who works there will be made whole even if there is no season.

Meanwhile I am in Scotland with no golf being open and perfect weather for the last 5+ weeks. Clubs over here are 100% closed. There is real concern over here about the financial effect of a lost season of visitor revenue. Dues are all paid for the year but it's not enough without the usual revenue from visitors.

Refunds or not, clubs should be fully transparent with their financials, especially now.

I've been a member of 6 different private clubs in my lifetime, and every one of them offers(ed) complete financials to members.

I am all in on paying full dues to keep my current clubs viable, and lucky I am in a position to do that. Honestly if it was a stretch for me financially, I would probably resign, since decent semi-private and public options are available (unless they go under!).
